2022 Cadillac CT4 Unavailable To Order With Super Cruise

The 2022 Cadillac CT4 is currently unavailable to order with the automaker’s Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving system.

General Motors has confirmed to GM Authority that Super Cruise is currently not available in the 2022 Cadillac CT4 due to the semiconductor chip shortage. Just as with the 2022 Cadillac CT5, which is also currently unavailable to order with Super Cruise, the automaker says the technology will not be re-added to the 2022 Cadillac CT4 order books until at least early next year.

GM’s Super Cruise hands-free driving tech is offered on the 2022 Cadillac CT4 in the Premium Luxury and Sport trim levels through the Super Cruise 1 or Super Cruise 2 packages. The technology is not offered on entry-level Luxury trim.

As some readers of this site will already know, GM has been intermittently removing certain electronic features from its various models this year in order to cut back on the number of semiconductor chips it uses per vehicle. This strategy has allowed the automaker to keep certain vehicles in production amid the chip shortage and mitigate the economic impact of the supply crunch. By removing Super Cruise from the Cadillac CT4’s options list, GM will be able to keep building the subcompact sedan alongside the larger CT5, both of which have been produced in very small numbers this year due to the global chip shortage.

GM applied minor changes to the 2022 Cadillac CT4 model range. This included the deletion of three available exterior colors, Velocity Red, Evergreen Metallic and Dark Blue Moon Metallic, which have been indirectly replaced by Blaze Orange Metallic, Electric Blue and Dark Emerald Frost. The compact sedan introduces a new Onyx Package as well, which adds gloss black wheels and various black exterior trim pieces, along with a new Radiant Package that gives the car additional bright exterior chrome. Lastly, GM also added standard wireless phone charging and more standard active safety features.

Powertrain options in the 2022 Cadillac CT4 remain unchanged, consisting of the turbocharged 2.0L LSY I4 gasoline engine and the twin-turbocharged 3.0L LGY V6 gasoline engine. The newly introduced 2022 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing performance variant, meanwhile, features a twin-turbocharged 3.6L V6 LF4 gasoline engine producing 472 horsepower and 445 pound-feet of torque.

The 2022 Cadillac CT4 is produced at the GM Lansing Grand River Assembly plant in Michigan, where it’s built alongside the Cadillac CT5 related sedan and the Chevy Camaro performance coupe.
