The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq has been spotted in near-showroom-ready form out and about on public roads, giving us an advance look at the all-electric luxury crossover ahead of its launch early next year.
As we can see, this particular example of the Cadillac Lyriq is equipped with production-ready lighting elements and trim bits. However, we also see that it’s painted in a different color than the two hues offered with the Debut Edition, specifically Satin Steel Metallic and Stellar Black Metallic.
Up front, the Cadillac Lyriq has a blocked-off grille section with a glossy black central fascia split by thin styling lines. Notably, these styling lines play a role in the crossover’s signature startup animation, which is a particularly eye-catching feature that’s sure to impress onlookers at night. The corners of the front fascia incorporate vertical lighting elements, while placed high and center we find the Cadillac crest, which also lights up. A small air intake is located lower in the front fascia, underlined by silver trim.
The side profile view reveals the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq’s coupe-like roofline, which falls into the rear hatch at an accelerating angle and visually enhances the crossover’s forward-leaning rake. Black trim underlines the wheel wells and doors, connecting in a single ring around the lower sections of the vehicle. We also spot flush-mounted door handles, plus six-split-spoke wheels in the corners, while the front driver’s-side fender houses the charging port.
Finally, the rear of the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq reveals further slim lighting bits, which line the hatch in a horizontal strip, as well as the rear fenders in vertical strips. The rear glass is relatively narrow, while up top is a subtle roof spoiler element.
As a reminder the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq is based on the GM BEV3 vehicle platform, and draws motivation from the GM Ultium battery tech and GM Ultium Drive motor tech, with both RWD and AWD offered. The Debut Edition will feature a 100.4 kWh battery, which will provide an estimated range of more than 300 miles on a single charge. Production for U.S. and Canada – and eventually other markets such as the Middle East – will take place at the GM Spring Hill plant in Tennessee, with availability in the U.S. and Canada. Expect a launch in Q1 of 2022, which is nine months ahead of schedule compared to the original launch date.

It looks like the old JC Whitney Co. threw up on it
… it is not for us… it is for Marry taste…
… conclusion… it is not for us, who knows what elegance is… it is for Marry Barra Taste… as CEO engineer she chose the design when was showed options to her … so good travel GM in your future… it will be hard tracks
You mean “gm”
I’ve just finished reading all the comments. It seems I’m not the only one feeling the same thing. This just doesn’t look that good and I wasn’t overly excited about the thing from the start.
I’ve also read several comments about the door to the charge port. When they first broke the story on this car with pics, I made the comment about how stupid that “powered” door is and how long before it gets broken or just won’t open or close. Well??
For all you know the charge port door is open like that because they don’t have the electronics behind it to open it electronically. The car still has months before it’s available.
…. well… GM made already beautiful electrics… for example for me the Impact EV1 was a WOW until today.
… but this one is a forced style… what a too much unharmonized front end … and an out or order rear
Oh, god. I hope this isn’t really production ready…and the car I got the preorder for. Seems to look quite a bit different (less elegant and more busy) that the preproduction renders showed…
It’s a preproduction prototype with many miles driven on it. With the regular version cleaned up available for the public will be night and day difference from what you see here.
That is one ugly front clip.
Cadillac needs new interior and exterior designers. How do you make a SUV look like a station wagon. You lowered it to the ground. Nothing luxury about it when you have two big metal cup holders staring back at you. No way to cover them when not in use. One jacked up SUV I will not even consider this one.
As usual, so many on here are complaining and judging this early built preproduction model which GM Authority use low quality pics to upload on this thread.
I don’t think there is anything to get excited about as you can see this vehicle had been rigorously been abused with a lot of hard driving and we don’t know the nature of the drive of the preproduction model in this pic. If you can see, there is a missing Cadillac center cap on the front/rear driver side and at the rear, the logo is missing. Also on the bumper, there are small taped labels on the rear and front lower by the headlamp on the side. Don’t be surprise if GM skipped adding logos on preproduction models as this happens many times in the past with late model cars before being driven with a lot of abuse. All manufactures take prototypes to extreme tests to see what needs to be altered or enhanced before production starts.
Also, GM Authority needs to do a better job of using higher quality pics and use wording in titles carefully so we don’t get many unnecessary posts. This comes across as click-bate which this is obviously.
I’m not fond of the front end and the roof line is not elegant. The back end, with those tail lights that look like they should have been much higher, is making me think…Aztek. Give me an old CTS wagon.
Not showroom ready! What is the deal with the charge port cover raised and doesn’t fit to the trim around the wheel well. Looks better if the cover would be flush to the body as in prototypes. Deal breaker for me at this level of car.
