General Motors unveiled the fully refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 last month, introducing a variety of changes and updates. Now, we’re taking a closer look at the refreshed pickup, specifically the mid-range SLT trim level.
The 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT slots in below Sierra 1500 AT4 and above the Sierra 1500 with regard to the refreshed model’s trim level cadence. To note, the base-level GMC Sierra 1500 has been renamed as the Pro trim level, while the AT4X and Denali Ultimate now top the lineup.
With regard to the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT specifically, we find that the front end is highlighted by a broad grille design with silver horizontal grille insert slats. The top of the grille has two “notches” along the upper edge, below which we find the GMC logo in red. Lower lighting elements bookend the lower grille section, while lower tow hooks are finished in black. Also check out the revised headlights, which feature technical-looking lighting signatures that bracket the updated grille.
The refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra also introduces a few new wheel designs for SLT trim levels, including optional 20-inch polished aluminum wheels with Technical Gray painted accents.
Inside the cabin, the refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 features a new interior design, which is standard across the lineup, save for the base model GMC Sierra Pro. The refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra SLT also comes standard with a 13.4-inch diagonal touch screen and 12.3-inch diagonal Driver Information Center, plus a variety of trailering assist technologies and an in-vehicle Trailering App. Optional equipment for the SLT includes a 10-way power-adjustable front bucket seats with perforated leather upholstery, plus heating and ventilation functions.
Pricing for the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT starts at $50,895. Deliveries for refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 models are expected to ramp up in Q1 of the 2022 calendar year.

Would be nice if they’d offer this trim in double cab again. I know the Elevation is getting more upgradeable options, but still missing some stuff I’d like.
No double SLT?
That is what I want in my next one, with no additional options except a 5.3 if not the base engine.
I have no use for a crew since only tools and short legged females reside back there and I miss the longer box.
The only reason I have a crew now is a double would have cost 5 large more.
gm and their push the crews B.S.
Totally agree with you. I want double a well in the SLT. That sucks.
Yeah I like the double cab as well and would be nice to be able to get it in a little nicer of truck, but it’s pretty much the same story with the other guys. At least they still don’t have the reverse hinged doors (Ford). You can get the standard bed in the crew though.
You can get a standard bed crew but
1.A shortbed crew or dbl.cab is long enough for my tastes.
2.You may have to order it and that will cost you more and you are unlikely to receive any rebates.
3.Urban and suburban dealers are unlikely to order standard bed crews, you are more likely to find them at “farmer dealers” which are less likely to give you the best deal because of there low volume and they have little gm “flex cash” to close deals.
It’s there tactic of pulling more money out of the customer with just the Crew Cab Option.
Don’t believe this clown. GM is not cancelling the Double Cab. While it may not be available on the Denali or AT4X, it will be available with other trims
Go troll elsewhere.
For the 2021 production models GMC/Chevrolet did not offer the Double cab on the AT4, SLT, and Chevy’s LTZ trims. A 5 minute search would show you that. Furthermore, if you look directly at GMC’s site under reservations for the 2022, there’s no option to reserve Double cab on the AT4 and SLT trims, (there is the option on the Elevation), so if it were offered on the SLT and AT4 trims it would stand to reason that the option would be there as well…
Wow this truck looks cheap as sin below the AT4 line. I would have thought this was a Base WT
Same.. A lot of guys seem to disagree but I don’t.
Aside from wheel designs and SLT having chrome bumpers and grill they look almost identical, the AT4 is based on the SLT, just with a few off road goodies. The Pro (not base WT) intentionally looks quite different and lower scale than these two with its grill design and material, as well as less features inside and out
Same truck with an updated interior. Still lacking the styling, space, features and quality built into Ram and Ford. Still no panoramic moonroof? Come on GM, where is the redesign?!
The styling of the Ram?
Besides the grille the rest of the truck looks exactly the same as every Ram for the last 17 years.
And Ford
Quality of the Dodge? Haha, you aren’t serious right? This has to be a joke, are we being punked? Ram is notorious for having questionable reliability from the get go and that dolled up interior has had numerous complaints on issues lasting, it has very little durability and will look like poo after a couple years. Take your troll comments somewhere else…
Part of the profit machine that are full size trucks. SLT used to be top of line now mid line and decontented to justify the bigger trims. Ram did same with Laramie. Now looks like cheaper big horn on outside to force you to spend $10k to get the better exterior
What options could you get on an SLT that have now been removed?
Fact is, nothing has been removed for content. Additional features continue to be added such as all the safety features. Cooled seats.
Please read the comments before you response
Patent comment referenced SLT looking cheap on the outside. My response concurred and added Ram did the same with the Laramie. The trim lights still and other exterior design elements now decontented to push buyers to the higher price. Plus some interior high end options are now higher trim as well.
The problem is that GM isn’t building the 2500 series Sierra. I have been waiting for over 4 months and all I get from the dealer is pushed back delivery dates. Then when I press them they finally fess up and tell me GM hasn’t even begun the build at the factory.
I am extremely disappointed with GM at this point, tired of being lied to and being misled by dealerships who can’t get GM to fill orders for these trucks.
You’ve got yourself in a tight spot due to the supply shortages that their experiencing nationwide, though most of those issues should be starting to clear up at this point, especially with the chip issue.
The plain truth is simple. GM advertising something they aren’t even producing right now.
They literally have thousands of 2021 sitting in the lot at the factory due to the chip issue. Now they don’t want to produce any 2022 until they figure out how to get rid of the 2021 that no one wants. They got a problem and aren’t being honest with the public about it. It’s dishonest to their customers to expect us to fix a problem they created by outsourcing the chips to China. Why were they not producing those chips here in the USA and this problem would never have arisen. America needs to stop our dependence on foreign countries that seek to destroy us economically
You sure they are getting their chips from China?
I thought that they were coming from Taiwan and Korea.
No honestly I don’t know they are specifically made in China. That is what I was told from 3 different dealerships.
However my point is being missed here. If GM and others were proactive and finding sources of these chips being made in the USA , the chip shortage would never have became a problem.
This issue again proves that America needs to better prepare for these type of problems and get back to producing goods and services that are built, manufactured, and sourced in the USA. We as a country need to stop our dependence on foreign countries. It’s like the current fuel shortage and high prices we are now under due to giving up our dependence on foreign oil and once again being held hostage by OPEC.. it makes no sense to me.
Totally agree USA should be making more products here at home like in the past and quit relying on others. We have the skilled workforce and knowhow. So y not. Profits that is the greed of the companies moving overseas.
My take is the COVID period will not likely be noted in the future as one of enduring quality. Probably the reverse. Human nature to not sweat the details on a build you know is going to sit in a field for 6 months “somebody will fix it then”. I think any buyer needs to really review all options and makes if they really need to buy now. Otherwise wait

I wanted a double cab with a 6.2, so had to go with a Chevy.
I would want a Double Cab SLT myself. I guess NOT going to happen. Should rename Build your truck to something else. Cant build the make, style, color options etc without stipulations is not build your truck in my opinion. They want all to be the same. If they have the trucks and material why not let someone build the truck the way they want. Coming down the assembly line put it together like requested.
The SLT Refresh looks good, though the Chrome Recovery Hooks would make it look a bit better.
Did GMC fix the 5.3L rod and lifter problems for 2022? My 2021 GMC Truck broke a rod and lifter at 11,000 miles .
Waste of money.. my new chevy paint peeled completely off in 3 years and no warranty. They all laughed. Resale value blew chunks. I paid dealer to repaint and it happened again. Chevys suck. Gm blows $100 bills chunks.
Question why are so many people with the 5.3 engine in Sierra 2021 Having so much trouble with engines having to be replace
