The fully refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 has arrived with a variety of changes and updates compared to the 2021 model year and pre-refresh 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Limited. Now, we’re taking a closer look at the refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra SLE trim level.
The SLE trim sits just above the entry-level Pro in the 2022 GMC Sierra trim level cadence, offering a bit more equipment, but at a relatively low price point. As a reminder, the entry-level trim was renamed from simply “Sierra” to “Pro” with the 2022 model year. Additionally, the fully refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 introduces two new trims to the lineup, including the off-roader-spec AT4X and the range-topping Denali Ultimate.
In terms of styling, the 2022 GMC Sierra SLE is equipped with the restyled front fascia seen across the refreshed model lineup. The grille insert comes with gray horizontal slats and a silver upper trim bit with twin “notches” along the upper edge, while the lower fascia does not include visible tow hooks like the Elevation trim and above. The revised headlights, however, are present and accounted for, including the new lighting signatures. In back, the SLE includes GMC’s signature MultiPro tailgate.
Inside, the 2022 GMC Sierra SLE features the same updated cabin layout as the rest of the refreshed 2022 model year, save the base GMC Sierra Pro. As such, the SLE comes standard with a 13.4-inch diagonal center touchscreen, which pairs with a 12.3-inch diagonal Driver Information Center to offer an abundant amount of infotainment screen real estate.
Under the hood, the 2022 GMC Sierra SLE comes standard with the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine, which is rated at 310 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque, mated to an updated version of the GM eight-speed automatic transmission. Alternatively, customers can elect to equip the optional 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine or the the 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax, both of which pair to the GM 10-speed automatic transmission.
Pricing for the 2022 GMC Sierra SLE starts at $43,895. Deliveries for the refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 are expected to kick off in Q1 of next year.

GMC seems to be doing a much better job of both releasing these trucks and advertising the upcoming models. Anyone understand gm’s strategy here?
Why is their no news on the 3.0 l diesel engine option?
Will the new trucks have heated seats or is the chip shortage affecting the new ones as well?
Not much info from GM authority, authority is lacking it seems.
The full size SUVs are currently excluded from the list of vehicles impacted by the chip shortage affecting heated seats. Possibly because the SUVs use the new Global B electrical architecture? If that’s the case, the updated trucks will be switching to the new global B architecture as well and then it’s likely they also will not be impacted by the heated seat delete.
If this is true, maybe they’ll release the updated models sooner.
No fog lights?
A basic safety item!!!
Ford called. They want their headlights back.
The 2019 Sierra was the first one with this style headlight. The 2021F150 basically copied the design that the Sierra had from 2019.
I agree with Nathan.
Love GMC but the 2015 Ford was the first truck with LED headlights and accent lights that wrapped around the headlight housing. GMC trucks did not get LED headlights until the refresh in 2016. In fact, you have to give Ford their due and proper for pushing the entire luxury trim thing with trucks. Ford started the Eddie Bauer trim for the F-series, Bronco, Expedition and so on back in the mid-80’s. GM didn’t believe there was a market for upscale trucks so they continued to push the Buick, Cadillac, and Olds land yachts. GMC would later see there was a market but It would take GMC until 2001 to throw their hat in the truck ring with the Sierra C3. Problem was, the C3 was an answer to the F150 Lariat and Harley Davidson, but Ford introduced the King Ranch that year. It was the first crew cab, short bed in the segment, the same standard that everyone still follows to this day no matter the brand. GMC had to go right back to the drawing board and release the Sierra Denali the following year. It’s ashamed how late GM has been in the truck segment.
GMC Sierra had the led lights in 2014
Wouldn’t touch a new gm product after getting screwed with my 2002.for electrical issues..love the good old gm and gmc…still have my 02 and still has electrical problems…so considering the wait for micro chips…I would stay as far away as possible.
The interior picture is a AT4 interior. ??? I like the new design but is it available in the SLE trim?
The new interior will be available on the SLE for sure
No heated seats or heated steering according to the latest release…how come the other manufacturers don’t have this issue?
The other manufacturers DO have the same chip shortages and are also cutting options.. its just a temporary thing and the missing options will likely be upfitted to the trucks that should have them as chips become available..
Is it true GMC stands for Gay Mans Chevy
That would be a great advertising campaign, I hope someone from GMC sees your comment. Especially since every sitcom has to have a gay character, so many commercials portray same sex couples, and even first graders are questioning their orientation. And who doesn’t think of Brokeback Mountain when they think of the Sierra range? Lesbians have their Subarus, to which Subaru has alluded in their ads, so how about gay men? The quality and strength of a Chevy with a gay twist, it could definitely put the GMC brand back on the map!
