The fully refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 updates the light duty pickup with a long list of changes and upgrades as compared to the pre-refresh 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Limited and 2021 GMC Sierra 1500. Now, GM Authority is taking a closer look at the luxurious 2022 GMC Sierra Denali.
The 2022-model-year refresh introduces two new trim levels to the Sierra 1500 lineup, including the off-road-ready GMC Sierra AT4X, and the new range-topper of the group, the 2022 GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate. As such, the 2022 GMC Sierra Denali is now considered the penultimate model of the lineup.
In terms of the front-end styling, the 2022 GMC Sierra Denali makes its presence known with a Signature Denali chrome grille, which sits in the revised fascia design with broad, polished horizontal slats. Matching trim bits are located in the bumper, complete with twin tow hooks, while up top, we find the characteristic revised headlight treatment with revised lighting signatures.
Comparing the Denali to the Denali Ultimate, we find the new range-topping Ultimate is equipped with a Denali Vader finish for the broad central grille, giving it a darker look than the chrome grille on the Denali. The grille design, however, is identical between the Denali and Denali Ultimate. Additionally, the Denali’s front end houses a red GMC logo, whereas the range-topping Denali Ultimate gets a silver-gray finish for the GMC logo.
In the corners, the 2022 GMC Sierra Denali offers optional 22-inch painted aluminum wheels with machining and bright chrome inserts, while in back, customers can opt for a CarbonPro carbon-fiber composite bed.
The interior of the 2022 GMC Sierra Denali features the same revised layout introduced across the Sierra 1500 lineup with the latest 2022-model-year refresh, highlighted by a 13.4-inch diagonal center touchscreen and 12.3-inch diagonal digital Driver Information Center. Although the new layout can be found on all 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 trim levels (with the exception of the base-model Pro), the Denali ups the ante with higher-quality materials and the latest tech features, such as authentic open-pore wood, brushed aluminum trim and Forge perforated leather seats, as well as options like the GM Super Cruise semi-autonomous drive system and a multicolor 15-inch diagonal Head-Up Display.
Standard spec includes the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine, while powertrain options include the 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax and naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87. The 2022 GMC Sierra Denali is also equipped with Denali Premium Suspension featuring continuous damping Adaptive Ride Control technology.
Pricing for the 2022 GMC Sierra Denali starts at $61,295. The first 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 models will arrive in dealers in Q1 of next year. Production will take place at the GM Silao plant in Mexico and the GM Fort Wayne plant in Indiana, and, once renovations are completed, the GM Oshawa plant in Canada as well.

this pick up front is not that bad but the GMC logo should have been chromed in the blue version too
the best colour is the Hunter greenish even though the interior panels seems complicated trims CMF
Having the GmC Denali available with only black interior seats and covers is not an option. I am on my fourth Denali and not happy with black internal colors. Just ordered number five Denali and was tempted to go to another company but like my Denali so much I will stay one more run. A nice dark brown on light red woult sure help sales. Love my Denali and no problems.
Umm, didn’t you look at the interior color options that are available on the Sierra Denalis? There’s a dark brown that’s combined with a slate color. Looks good.
Yes, it’s called Dark Walnut.
I also would something other than black interiors. Some body please tell Mary Berra that we all don’t want electric vehicles. I saw where sleepy Joe Biden was going to meet with her today to talk about Electric vehicles. Duh. America is struggling .Gas at 7 year high. People not wanting to fill jobs. Borders exploding with immigrants. May have to buy another brand.
How many issues do customers have with Denali after 40,000 miles? I’ve changed the air conditioner, throttle body, one shock totaling $1200, rear camera has delay before populating picture, noise coming from spring on rear end when backing up from my garage! I’ve owned 2 Denali’s and air conditioner had to be changed in both. Truck is beautiful, gets great gas mileage, however I’ve lost faith in this truck!! Great purchase if you trade it before factory warranty expires!! Great service from Musson Patout, however GMC doesn’t care about customer service after the sale, they seem to only focus on acquisition!!! I wrote Mary Barra (CEO) and also left 2 messages for her. She never replied!!
If there’s an A/C issue it’s not because you have a Denali. It’s because you own a GM truck with parts shared between GMC & Chevrolet. I also lost the A/C on my 2017 Sierra 1500 SLT at 54k miles.
The grill is lacking a bit. The black on black on black on black is the lamest lazy scheme the designers are getting paid for. Here’a an idea put some actual research into materials that will not stain and are durable and have an actual nice light color scheme available for the interiors keep the carpet black or a dark grey, the contrast would be nice. Be realistic the Denali line isnt being bought by someone that isnt going to try to be mindful of keeping the interior somewhat pristine. Also having a nice 2nd row similar to the Yukon with large screens on the headrest would be a DEAL MAKER. Also the old escalade ext with the rear cabin access was a good idea that was discontinued instead of improving. Stop missing the mark on a Denali badge
I really hope that the front seats are more comfortable with this revised interior. The 19-21’s were hard and flat. That plus the dash design kept me from buying the one of those. That’s where GM dropped the ball, the Denali needs to be a step above, not the same with just color matched bumpers and Denali embroidered on the headrests.
IMO, I don’t like the huge chrome grill options and in each pic, not a fan of the gray lower front below the bumper.
I get a new Denali every year and doing 50,000
Kms here in Canada
Hope there is another color than black. Looks like I am not the only one wanting other than black on your best
Pick up.My order is already in and hope in time for new color
Boy oh boy. I used to be such a GM fan back in the day… then the Isuzu maxipad came out-disgrace-junk. GM, you think American muscle, now all in-bred plastic junk. GM went backwards never offering the 4wd pickups with a factory solid axle for a TRUE work truck. They get uglier and uglier by the day! GM much like John Deere, can’t grasp their own style and set the bar, now they look uglier than the Nissan titan that comes with the cummins. “The heart beat of America” and “like a rock” is more like the American imported junks of America and the plastic turds of America. Not to mention the new Tahoe and suburban going 4 wheel independent suspension… good God… turds on wheels.
🙄🙄 sure thing Kiddo.
