Next-Gen 2021 Cadillac Escalade Gets Lowrider Treatment: Video

General Motors introduced a brand-new fifth generation for the Cadillac Escalade nameplate for the 2021 model year, restyling the luxury icon from tip to tail and packing it full of cutting-edge features. Now, the overhauled 2021 Cadillac Escalade is getting the full lowrider treatment with the following four-minute video.

This 2021 Cadillac Escalade started out as a factory Sport model retailing for around six figures. Now, the SUV has been kitted out with a host of modifications that slam it straight to the pavement, with the complementary running gear to boot.

The whole build took about eight or nine weeks to complete, with the shop responsible for the build starting with a custom chassis incorporating new air ride components. The build also relies on sheet metal modifications to fit the enormous new wheels under the fenders when the body is lowered to the ground, while the electronics were adapted to accommodate the new bits and pieces.

The wheels are positively gargantuan, sized at 30 inches by 9 inches up front and 30 inches by 11 inches at the rear. The wheels are made by MTW, and are manufactured using billet aluminum. Under the rollers, the SUV incorporates new Wilwood brakes with six-piston calipers and 16-inch drilled and slotted rotors.

The engine spec includes the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, rated at 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. The ‘eight connects to the GM Hydra-Matic 10L80 10-speed automatic transmission. Lift the hood, and you’ll find two large wheel tubs on either side of the engine to accommodate the enormous running gear with the SUV sitting on the ground. The modifications continue into the trunk area, where we find further wheel tubs to accommodate the rear axle.

“That’s the goal of this thing,” states the builder. “The mash-up of luxury and cool. You put them together and that’s what you get.”

  6. It’s not a Lowrider. I’ve been striping vehicles for 45 years. Including the Lowrider car culture, and there’s is a big difference between a Lowrider and a lowered SUV.

  7. This story turns my gut. What kind of an idiot would take the luxury and craftsmanship of GM’s pristine flagship SUV and modify it? I see no reason to destroy its original beauty & craftsmanship for a finished “low-rider” Cadillac Escalade.

    1. The answer is easy. Gold teeth and sagging pants.

  9. Clearly, different strokes for different folks! If I had that kind of money to burn on a vehicle, I would have spent it in other ways. Aside from the ingenuity, its rather homely IMO.
