Last week, General Motors officially launched the new 2022 Chevy S10 Z71 as the off-road and adventure variant specifically prepared to expand the model’s competitiveness in Brazil. In this regard, the automaker claims that the 2022 S10 Z71 raises the bar for customization in its segment with a bunch of exclusive and functional elements that make it highly recognizable.
GM Brazil states that the new 2022 Chevy S10 Z71 is the vehicle with the most standard accessories in Chevrolet’s model portfolio in the South American country, including more than 20 elements that give it a unique appearance and reinforce its off-road capabilities. As such, the adventurous styling of the 2022 S10 Z71 seeks to appeal to a large group of customers who want a striking pickup but without the need to purchase additional accessories.
“This is exactly the spirit of the Z71 version, invented by Chevrolet in the United States and worshiped for more than four decades around the world,” said Product Marketing Director at GM South America, Rodrigo Fioco, in an official press release. “To receive the Z71 seal, the S1O pickup truck needs, in addition to the highest level of robustness, a package of unique and functional design items,” he added.
Introducing Chevrolet‘s popular off-road variant for the first time in both the model and the Brazilian market, the 2022 Chevy S10 Z71 stands out for its highly distinctive appearance and for including a suite of factory accessories that prepare it to face off-road challenges. In fact, the Z71 brings more than 20 differences compared to the LTZ version, adding a dimension to the research, development and validation work behind the model.
Aesthetically, the 2022 Chevy S10 Z71 presents a bold appearance with multiple black-out elements such as the grille, headlights, mirrors, wheels, side steps, roof bars, cargo bed stabilizer bars and fender guards – exclusive to the version. In addition, it adds distinctive stickers around the body, Z71 emblems and the black Bow Tie that distinguishes the special versions of the brand inside and out.
The new 2022 Chevy S10 Z71 is already on sale in Brazil in a unique configuration equipped with the Duramax turbodiesel 2.8L I-4 XLD28 engine, which develops 200 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, and mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The first Z71 variant of the S10 is offered with four paint color options, including Summit White, Switchblade Silver, Eclipse Blue, and Topazio Gray. It will soon be released in other South American countries.

They should offer the S10 here in the US as a low cost option, as it is available with deisel and chassis cab, two things the Colorado doesn’t.
The S10 is a Colorado. They do offer the Diesel but due to our laws it is not cheap here.
Little call for a chassis cab and the cost would be about the same as a WT.
What makes it expensive here? The Diesel engine?
S10 Z71 >> R$ 260490 or US$ 46.362,09
Colorado > 2022 4WD Crew Cab, Short Box Z71 US$ 45780
with same accessories and same motor diesel
The extra testing and emissions.
The price keeps the volume down to help on emission credits. There is also no emission equipment added.
In many places they have no real regulations or extra costs so it is cheaper.
The bottom line is out EPA drives up the cost with regulations. They attack diesel tuner more aggressively than the Taliban.
Their approach is not to ban diesels but to make it damn impossible to afford.
Well that sucks I’ve always heard diesel are better. I know a good number of people that own diesel and they love them.
depends… what is better… myself do not like the smell and how dirty diesel is… prefer Ethanol, love to smell alcohols.
Personal preference. Both are viable options but they are as different and Chocolate and Vanilla. Just depends on what you want.
The problem with the Diesel is the EPA is making it more and more difficult to buy and own. It will be gone from the Colorado soon but the gas turbo will have about as much torque and more power.
It’s called Mass Customization… a “Customized” vehicle for everyone who thinks the same. Not the same as Individualized Customization where each vehicle is actually customized to fit each client’s personality. My family has been doing this since the 1930s and business is good. With that said, mass customizing is a huge market as a fad and sells well with huge numbers. I’m good with that but in our Specialty Automotive industry/hobby, we do them unique one at a time. There’s enough business for all.
