General Motors has launched a new ad campaign for the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq crossover starring Canadian tennis player Bianca Andreescu.
This new ad campaign was developed for the Canadian market specifically, with Andreescu a well-known sportsperson in her home country. According to MediaPost, the ad campaign was female-led from start to finish, with Cadillac Canada’s creative agency, Isobar Canada, working in collaboration with director Kat Webber to put two separate 15-second spots together starring the Mississauga-born athlete.
“There’s a deliberate poetic style to how the visuals of Bianca and the Lyriq interact, paired with imaginative framing and top-of-the-line motion control technology,” Webber said of the new commercials.
The 15-second ad spots also feature Cadillac’s new ‘Be Iconic’ tagline, which GM Authority was the first to uncover in a trademark filing earlier this year. The Be Iconic tagline was previously used in a U.S. ad spot for the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq starring actress Regina King entitled “The Beauty of Defiance.” A separate ad spot for the Cadillac Lyriq released in the spring entitled “Lighting the Way” also focused on a female protagonist and emphasized female empowerment in a similar fashion.
Canadian deliveries of the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq will begin after U.S. deliveries, with the electric crossover set to arrive in the country next fall. The vehicle is available to pre-order now and will be priced from $69,898 in Canada.
The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq is motivated by a 100 kWh lithium-ion battery pack and single-motor powertrain driving the rear wheels. Output is measured at 340 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque, with more than 300 miles of range offered per charge. DC fast charging nets up to 195 miles of range in 30 minutes. The vehicle will enter production at GM Spring Hill Assembly plant in Tennessee early next year.

Who?
Brandon approved!
I guess it’s better then Lebron, but seriously who buys a car because of the celebrity that is in the commercials?
Why did the Pontiac Aztek become more popular after it was featured in Breaking Bad….
Probably because they were cheap and meth heads can live in them cause they are roomy.
Don’t all ugly cars get slightly more popular after time? That might have something to do with it.
USA1: you may be surprised. Just look at all the “fans” protesting outside the courthouse over the Brittany Spears thing. And just the other night I was watching the news when they began to interview two (mid 20’s ladies) who were speaking about being at some K-pop (??) concert to “support” the singers because they have not had a concert in over a year now. These two women were acting like 12 year olds at a fan club meeting. All I could do is shake my head. But the point is that people really do watch that stuff and truly are influenced by it.
Me? Nope! Build a nice looking vehicle with what I’m looking for at a fair price and I will buy it. I could care less who promotes it.
Think of all the MUSTANGS that were sold after French Beauty Catherine DeNeuve felt up the 4-speed shift lever knob – haha.
It’s hard to believe that celebrity endorsements of cars net more sales. Truth be told, it might not work for the Lyriq.
Cadillac has a narrow focus for the Lyriq on a demographic that buys virtually no EVs statistically.
I was not going to buy one untill now! I am very impressed with any celebrity endorsement!!! Maybe I will buy 3 or 4 or 6!!!!
Fire GM CANADA board who approved this. Good tennis player – but her being in an ad does nothing for me. Cleetus pass me the beer and cheetos.!
i have a feeling this car’s gonna flop big-time
If Tesla can sell their ultra boring cars, surely Caddy can sell one that looks as good as it does.
the Tesla design is boring, and this thing is revolting, and it’s only offered in two colors. It also has the popularity/hype disadvantage
Yeah, but I’ll bet you said that about the Edsel, too.
So many “naysayers” for a new vehicle that filled over 20,000 reservations for its First Edition model, which begins assembly next April, while Tesla reservation holders had to wait two years for the first car. And Cadillac has more interested followers for this Lyriq than any other Cadillac. Only the Hummer has more interested followers and that began assembly last week. The Lyriq will sell very well by 2023.
Do you really wonder why Cadillac flounders?
Hmm ? Tesla advertises their EV lineup to males. Cadillac seems to be advertising their EV to women. Something doesn’t seem correct with the gm marketing team’s expectations.
GM is really out of touch with their customer base right now
The 2021 nomination for Irony of the Year Award. Just as the ATA announces it’s pulling all future Pro Tennis Events out of Communist China in response to the latest CCP Human rights catastrophe little gm hires a Canadian Tennis Pro to endorse a product & doubles down on producing the same exact product in China for the CCP. Get your head outta your a$$ Queen MaryB!!!
A so beautiful car and the ad shows almost only a woman…..GM should provok the competitors and.be more agressive…because this car is simply stunning. As a Foreigner, I AM Sad that we cannot have a so stunning.brand like Cadillac here in Brazil . I am jelous of you Canadians and North American s ….here we get only BMW and Áudis….and believe, they become real bombs on the streets after 10 years of use.
Not to mention A few Lexus here….cars nobody wants after 5 years of use….
In the pictures, her facial expression is that of car thief who has just gotten caught in the act. Give us a smile, baby!
Question. If she was not paid to be seen with it would she run out and buy one on her own? Celebrity endorsements only work for clueless business masterminds and idiots….
Another thought GM wasted a lot of money on this but can save a tone of cash by not using it…
I swear that I am a not a totally sexist perv but in the video what is up with her standing up against the wall? Worst, the video makes it look like she has “male” parts. This is certainly not a flattering look for her, and she would have been within her rights to tell gm to get another advertising agency.
