General Motors is gearing up to launch a bevy of new all-electric vehicles, with plans to release 30 new EV models globally by 2025. Now, General Motors has announced that 13 of those new EVs will launch in the Middle East.
The announcement was made during a recent presentation by the President and Managing Director At General Motors, Africa and Middle East, Luay Al Shurafa.
“We are building the best and broadest EV portfolio in the market, bar none,” Al Shurafa said. “Our aspiration is to be number one in EVs in the region, and launching 13 new electric vehicles over the next four years reflects our commitment.”
What’s more, Al Shurafa added that General Motors will strengthen and deepen its relationships with existing strategic partnerships “across the public and private sectors,” while also forging new relationships going forward.
The latest Chevy Bolt EV is due to arrive in the region in January of 2022. Afterwards, General Motors will introduce the all-new GMC Hummer EV pickup in Q4 of 2022, followed by the Cadillac Lyriq in mid-2023.
The launch of the GM’s new EV portfolio falls in line with the automaker’s Triple Zero aspirations, which include zero emissions, zero crashes, and zero congestion, with electric vehicle technology included as part of the General Motors’ technology investments. Those investments also include development new autonomous vehicle (AV) tech. Earlier this summer, GM announced that it was boosting EV and AV tech to $35 billion between 2021 and the 2025 calendar year.
In related news, General Motors announced back in August that it intends on achieving the number-one electric vehicle market share in North America, while earlier this month, the automaker said it was committed to phasing out fossil fuels by 2040. General Motors also recently opened the GM Factory Zero facility, the automaker’s first EV-exclusive production facility.

Bolt, Bolt EUV, Lyriq, Hummer (+ Hummer SUV?), Celestiq, Silverado EV……what else?
I guess the Sierra, Equinox, Blazer, two Cadillac SUVs and the Acadia.
The Middle East huh? That’s laughable. I guess they are trying to make inroads with them to their supposed eventuality that all autos will be electric. If so maybe the general has another think coming lol.
why would the countries with the world supply of oil want EVs unless they are going to burn the oil to generate electricity.
They won’t buy them unless it’s a EV CAMEL.
My question is where is all this electricity going to come from to charge all these EVs? In the US our generating Capacity is pretty much maxed out. Generating electricity is not all that clean.
I don’t want to drive a golf cart
I just put this article on top of my “Nothing Makes Sense Anymore” file!!
Stop inferring that electric generation is dirty, solar generated electricity has increased in the US to the point that it has eclipsed natural gas ( a massive polluter) because it is less expensive.
