Cadillac XT5 Among Most Reliable Cars, Says Consumer Reports

The 2022 Cadillac XT5 is among the most reliable vehicles on sale today according to the automotive experts over at Consumer Reports.

CR recently published its list of the 10 Most Reliable Cars for the 2022 model year, which is compiled using owner satisfaction data, along with its own road test review scores. The publication says it studies 17 trouble areas when ranking vehicles based on reliability, which includes minor nuisances like squeaky brakes and broken interior trim to larger problems like out-of-warranty transmission repairs or trouble with four-wheel-drive systems.

The 2022 Cadillac XT5 found itself on the list this year thanks to a perfect reliability score of 89. The Cadillac XT5 also received near-perfect scores for the individual “trouble areas” identified by CR, with the only major reported issues relating to the vehicle’s in-car electronics. It does not publish exact problems owners reported, so it’s not clear what issues they experienced with the in-car electronics.

The least reliable vehicles in the Cadillac XT5’s segment were the Tesla Model Y and Alfa Romeo Stelvio, which tied with a reliability score of just 18. The Lincoln Corsair had a similarly poor performance with a reliability score of 20. The only other model in the ‘Luxury compact sport utility vehicle’ category to beat the 2022 Cadillac XT5 with regard to reliability in this study was the Buick Envision, which received a reliability score of 90.

CR assigns the 2022 Cadillac XT5 an overall score of 82 based on a predicted reliability of 5/5, a road test score of 78/100 and a Predicted Owner Satisfaction of 3/5.

As before, the 2022 model year Cadillac XT5 is offered with two engine options: the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine, rated at 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, and the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LGX gasoline engine, rated at 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque. Both engines connect to a GM nine-speed automatic transmission.

    1. GM overpromises and underdelivers. They were promising well over a year that 2022 XT5 will have Super Cruise. This is what GM said earlier this year in their release: “With the newly available Super Cruise system, the XT5 can virtually drive itself — although driver supervision is required.”

It does not have Super Cruise . GM, please stop lying in the future, so you can retain the little credibility you still have.

    2. Did you have problems with the previous 6 Cadillacs you owned?

  4. Really?? How would anyone know anything about XT-5’s, SINCE YOU CAN’T GET ONE??!! I ordered one LAST JANUARY. In August, the dealer changed the order from a 2021 to a 2022, and I still don’t have it. Worse, no one at Cadillac OR the dealership can tell me anything.

    1. GM would rather push out 100,000$ Escalade’s ,& some dealers charging over MSRP,Than your 50 or 60 grand XT5. Higher Profit margins.

      1. GM authority has been posting losses in sales in every market that depends on basic transportation because all GM has been building is high profit vehicles. The dealership does not have any Traxes, Malibus, Equinoxes or Trailblazers. Not even Camaros too

  7. I had a 2018 XT5 that had nothing wrong with it for over 3 years. The only item was a rattle in the tailgate which is a known issue and repaired. Nothing mechanical or electrical went wrong with it. We recently bought a 2021 Premium Luxury model and absolutely love the new features and updated suspension VS our 2018. It’s a great vehicle that is just he right size for our family. It’s one of the largest, in fact I think the largest cargo area of any compact SUV. And that works for us. Complain all you want about GM, my Caddy’s have been great and very reliable.

  8. Have a 2015 XTS, previous car was a 07 DTS. Only regret is I wish the 15 had the seats from the 07. That would be my dream car along with the double sun visor that was in the 07. The big comfy seats of the old Caddies are a long ago dream. Car has been reliable with few repairs. Had trouble with blind side sensors and I’m on my 3rd battery with 87k. Just wondering what Caddy or Lexus to buy next.
