The 2022 Chevy Suburban arrives as the second model year of the latest twelfth-generation nameplate, introducing a selection of changes and updates over the preceding all-new 2021 model year. Now, interested fans and potential customers can spec the 2022 Chevy Suburban to taste using the official online configurator.
Compared to the preceding 2021 model year, the 2022 Chevy Suburban deletes two exterior paint colors, including Shadow Grey Metallic and Graywood Metallic. Meanwhile, three new exterior colors join the options list, including Auburn Metallic, Dark Ash Gray Metallic, and Evergreen Gray Metallic.
The wheel options list also gets revamped for the 2022 model year, with five wheel designs deleted. Specifically, the 22-inch 6-spoke Midnight Silver machine-faced aluminum wheels with Chrome inserts (RPO code SEW), the 22-inch Black Gloss wheels with Chrome inserts (RPO code SHD), the 22-inch Bright Chrome wheels (RPO code SF0), the 22-inch Carbon Flash Metallic wheels (RPO code SEZ), and the 22-inch Multi-spoke Bright polished wheels (RPO code SES) are no longer offered. The five deleted wheels designs have been replaced with five new options, including 20-inch Multi-spoke Gloss Black wheels (RPO code SEM), 22-inch Black wheels with selective machining (RPO code SRL), 22-inch Multi-spoke Chrome wheels (RPO code SSI), 22-inch Multi-split spoke Chrome wheels (RPO code SSW), and 22-inch Multi-spoke Gloss Black wheels (RPO code SRV).
On the mechanical side of things, 2022 Chevy Suburban Z71 models now offer an electronic limited-slip differential as part of the Off-Road Capability Package, which also adds in Magnetic Ride Control, and Air Ride Adaptive suspension.
The engine lineup once again includes the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine, rated at 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque, the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, rated at 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, and the 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax, rated at 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.
A 10-speed automatic transmission is standard across the range. The naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine is now available on RST and Z71 models via the Sport Performance Package and Off-Road Performance Package, respectively.

Awesome!!! Now I can build my 2022 Suburban for 90k and not get it till December 2022. Ha ha ha ha
And still no Diesel for these and the Sierra and Silverado 1500 LTD :-/ GM… please press the ‘restart production’ button.
No joke. I would have thought they’d have planned something to push out at least a limited supply of diesel variants.
So it only took 3 months and fully loaded paid 72K… going to the lots if you dont want to wait there selling 2021s with 30k miles for 78k. Its nutz out there
The updates were well worth the wait.
I am not happy about waiting on my diesel Premier Suburban and had to buy a used Lexus SUV since I don’t know when my Suburban will be delivered.
Too bad I can’t even order a Premier Duramax til who knows when cuz the date keeps getting pushed.
Been waiting 21/2 months on a new Yukon. 🙁
I have been waiting on a 2021 model Suburban which has become a 2022 model that may become a 2023 model. I submitted my initial purchase back on June 1, 2021. 5 months now and counting.
No real Gearshift. No way. Others are learning faster than GM.
There is so many obvious reasons on here as to why today’s children have a sense of entitlement. The middle aged children whining about having to wait to get there new ( premier dmax ) ride, having to go buy an high end import, because a global pandemic has caused a major parts shortage across the globe, and the manufacture can’t supply these whiners there new ride in a timely manor. Guess what, if they don’t sell them, they aren’t making money on them either. They aren’t being held back to ” spite ” you. get a grip!
Guess what people are saying they made a lot of bad decisions maybe they shouldn’t of moved so much of the production overseas maybe keep chip making here. Nobody said they are doing it to spit them get a grip man this isn’t 4chan
Anyone know if the Evergreen Gray Metallic will carry over to the refreshed version of the 22 Silverado?
Any changes to the interior dimensions? Passenger room and cargo space is more important to me than 22″ wheels.
