2022 Chevy Silverado High Country Midnight Concept Unveiled At 2021 SEMA Show

A blacked-out version of the 2022 Chevy Silverado High Country could be on the way, with Chevy showing off a Midnight Concept edition of the full-size pickup truck at the 2021 SEMA Show this week.

The 2022 Chevy Silverado High Country Midnight Concept trades the stock chrome exterior trim and accessories for gloss black-painted pieces, giving the vehicle a more sinister exterior appearance. There are also black-painted grille inserts, black Chevy bowtie logos, black High Country fender logos, 20-inch gloss black Chevrolet Accessories wheels and black anodized exhaust bezels.

“This dark and intriguing concept elevates the legendary elegance of Silverado High Country with bold blackout accessories and tasteful interior appointments,” the automaker says of this new concept. “From its Black grille inserts and 20-inch Black wheels to its Black exhaust bezels, this vehicle has style that shines through the dark. And with available Chevrolet Accessories, you can personalize one yourself and own the night.”

The standard Chevy Silverado High Country (pictured above) aims for a high-end exterior appearance with a two-tone bronze and chrome grille, chrome window and mirror trim and 20-inch painted aluminum wheels. This concept model, by comparison, has gloss black painted pieces in their place, but retains all the other standard equipment of the High Country. This includes heated and ventilated 10-way power front driver’s and passenger’s seats, a wireless charging pad, a Bose premium sound system and a leather-wrapped heated steering wheel.

GM has not said if it plans to produce a production version of the 2022 Chevy Silverado High Country Midnight Concept. The decision could hinge on the public’s response to the truck at SEMA, which will run from November 2nd to November 5th.

  1. I hope this one makes it to production.

  2. I don’t know where this blackout craze came from. To spend the money they want for the High Country model, and then make it look like a custom just doesn’t make sense to me. Absolutely Zero curb appeal.

    1. The blackout craze is from current Bad Ass culture. This is the current ruling trend. Bad Ass style seems to be sustaining itself like tatoos, cigarettes, and Harley Davidsons.

  3. It’s easy bud you don’t like it blacked out buy a white one with chrome. I personally like it blacked out, chrome is crap today and doesn’t hold up so I welcome this hopefully they do it with the Denali also!

  4. I used to not be a fan of the blacked out versions but it has grown on me. Hope they offer a blackout package with all models except the work models.

  6. I wish chevrolet would build regular cabs, short beds for one last time, I know that’s it’s some sort buaracracy that it’s no longer available in US, but it’s available in Saudi Arabia and they have all the parts necessary, besides ford still builds them. So I was thinking they could add trims like rgsb ZR2 and an SS version with the powertrain from the Z06 C8 a 5.5 V8, at least a limited numbers that would sell for 100k, please Chevy!

  7. I really like the look of the wheels. They resemble the 6th Gen Camaro ZL1 wheels. Very neat.

  8. Love the concept. Many others offer either or both a blackout version as well as a sport version that allow for a full chrome delete on the higher level trims. It makes sense to offer this for those buyers that want something like an RST or blackout look but, with all the amenities that an LTZ or High Country can offer. I say offer it as a package as well as a body color RST type of package on both the High Country and LTZ trims.

  9. I like it but I prefer chrome as long as it is conservatively done.

I agree with you on black vehicles. I live in Nevada with nearly 340+ days of sunshine a year. Shiney black gloss looks terrific on the Las Vegas strip at night. The Gangbangers here in Sin City, LA, and Phoenix love full sized all black vehicles. A must have for them. Tinted windows help in the heat.

  13. Add a supercharger, sport suspension and they might have something worth buying.

  14. Anything that gets rid of the ridiculous bronze accents on the high country, also make a sport edition as well so it doesn’t only come in black.

  16. All in. My 2019 LTZ 2500 was all white. My 2022 High Country 2500 was chrome and bronze. Not a fan. Can’t wait. For the money you should get what you like when you purchase it. Not spending more money after purchasing.
