2013 Buick LaCrosse Among Best Used Midsize Cars Under $15K, Says KBB

The 2013 Buick LaCrosse is among the best used mid-sized cars that one can purchase for under $15,000, according to the car buying experts over at Kelley Blue Book.

KBB recently published its list of the 10 Best Used Midsize Cars Under $15,000, with the 2013 Buick LaCrosse appearing in the third position. Editors praised the vehicle for its reliability, along with its well-appointed interior, good overall build quality and smooth ride. They also gave it high marks for the fuel economy of its 3.6L LFX V6 engine and awarded it bonus points for having available all-wheel-drive.

“High reliability ratings help make the LaCrosse a great used midsize car option,” LaCrosse said. “It has a remarkably quiet interior with high-quality materials. It also offers a smooth ride with good fuel economy and the option of all-wheel drive.”

Two Japanese sedans beat the 2013 Buick LaCrosse to take up the first and second positions, with the 2014 Toyota Camry taking top honors and the 2013 Honda Accord in the runner-up spot. The 2015 Subaru Legacy was fourth, followed by the 2014 Mazda6, 2014 Ford Fusion, 2014 Nissan Altima, 2014 Kia Optima, 2015 Chevy Malibu and 2013 Hyundai Sonata.

Midsize passenger sedans are not nearly as popular as they once were, with many former buyers of these vehicles trading them in for crossovers and SUVs. Still, KBB says mid-sized sedans like the Buick LaCrosse remain “a great option for those who want a comfortable, affordable, and fuel-efficient option.” With fuel prices on the rise, budget-minded consumers would be smart to get themselves into an affordable, used sedan in the near future.

The 2013 Buick LaCrosse was offered with two powertrain options. The base engine, which was only available with front-wheel-drive, is a 2.4L Ecotec four-cylidner with GM’s eAssist hybrid technology, which produces 182 horsepower and 172 pound-feet of torque. The 3.6L LFX V6 served as the upmarket engine option, producing 303 horsepower and 264 pound-feet of torque. The V6 engine came standard with FWD but could also be ordered with AWD.
