After the officially confirming the model’s existence and having recently been captured undisguised, General Motors has just launched the new 2022 Chevy S10 Z71 in Brazil – the only country in the world that manufactures the company’s midsize pickup for the international market. The new off-road version of the S10 strengthens the competitiveness of the nameplate and meets the high demand for trucks in the Brazilian market.
The new 2022 Chevy S10 Z71 introduces Chevrolet’s iconic off-road variant for the first time in both the model and in Brazil, where the pickup has been on sale for the past 26 years, spanning two generations. As such, the 2022 S10 Z71 boasts exclusive and functional elements that enhance its off-road ruggedness as well as raise its customization level with more than 20 unique features.
“The S10 Z71 comes at a time when people are discovering different ways to work and play. Interest in car travel, adventure sports and more contact with nature is growing,” said Marketing Executive Director at GM South America, Hermann Mahnke, in an official press release. “And to explore this off-road universe, there’s nothing better than a robust and comfortable pickup truck, which has already proven to overcome the most complex challenges of agribusiness,” he added.
Designed together by GM’s product development teams in the United States and Brazil, the new 2022 Chevy S10 Z71 stands out for its rugged, blacked-out looks that easily differentiate it from other versions. While featuring the hitherto exclusive front design of the High Country trim, the S10 Z71 has an identity of its own thanks to features such as assist steps, a sport bar, fender flares as well as distinctive decals.
Mechanically, the 2022 Chevy S10 Z71 maintains the same powertrain as in the more equipped versions of the model in Brazil, namely the Duramax turbodiesel 2.8L I-4 XLD28 engine, developing a class-leading 200 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, and mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The off-road version of the S10 logically comes standard with 4×4 traction, however it does not include suspension lift as found on the brand’s other Z71 models.
The new 2022 Chevy S10 Z71 is arriving at dealerships in Brazil this week with a wide range of technology, safety and convenience features. The Z71 trim is positioned as a midrange variant in the S10 lineup, right between the LT and LTZ trims, to meet the high demand for adventurous pickups that exists in the South American country. The price is 260,490 BRL, about $46,850 USD at the current exchange rate.

too ugly
Is this the 2023 Colorado update.also??
no… it is 2 parallel things but only in front, explanation below
yeah Bob, explained already, the Australia Holden took in Warren the Chevrolet Colorado in 2019 and did a facelift in 2020 to Australia market, but then GM killed Holden and the tooling was transferred to brasil to not loose money, in meantime warren did another front to Chevrolet Colorado, which for 2023 is updated than that, because this is already old as Design… They are mechanically, motor, from A pillar to C pillar all same BIW and same pick up area it is only the plastic grille and headlights that differ, better explaining this 2021 Chevy S10 whatever model is a between 2019 Chevy Colorado and the 2023 Chevy Colorado, it is only 3 Designs plays in front. This stays only in Brasil for South America market, The 2023 Chevrolet Colorado, same body but with cleaner and more beautiful front is even newer, but only in Styling of front, the rest is all the same. And this S10 is the only car is selling good to GMB, all rest not, which are obsolete already. It is because GM had to gain the money in Brasil, they did not do in Australia, closed the Indonesia factory too. Soon also after 2024 the Brasil S10, this become the 2023 Warren new look too, and say it is “new”, but brazilian people think they got the latest, which is not the Truth, North America is ever fwd, it was ever like that, only Shanghai says the Design of GMB cars today, the Styling Department in CT Av Goias is more to close than doing much things, of course they did this decals…. but sincere, did not liked this all black result, it is the fact doing all black is cheaper than putting colours, so the easy solution with decals at side, but imo the 2023 Chevy Colorado has a front more balanced, me saying as an Exterior Designer… This Brazilian Truck is a bit Funky
Sales of the S10 are within expected levels compared to pre-pandemic levels, as GMB has prioritized this model due to higher profitability, even with lower production volume. Regarding the other models, the new generations of Onix, Onix Plus and Tracker, usually lead their respective categories and are not considered obsolete. However, its sales were affected due to the scarcity of electronic components and their lower profitability, which requires large volumes of sales to make a profit.
do not tell me Spin and the ugly Joy is the newest but Gravatai started the production first before the S10, Tracker is since long in USA too … the Cruze is old no one pays 400 thousand for a Camaro neither to a Bolt when GMB pays for an engineer 6 thousand
With the new environmental regulations that will come into force in Brazil in 2022, the chances of these models continuing to be sold, at least in Brazil, are not very high, as their engines will not be approved for this change. Also, sales of these are no longer as relevant. It is confusing the Brazilian Tracker with the Mexican Trax, as they are totally different vehicles, including the platform. The Cruze is only in production because the AVA project made for Argentina is not finalized. In addition, the C sedan segment is in decline in the region, so much so that Honda will no longer produce the Civic and VW imports only the Jetta GLI, leaving only the Corolla, which leads the category. Camaro and Bolt only serve as a showcase for the brand, as prices are disproportionate to the reality of the vast majority of the population.
ok, as soon as GMB writes in their chevrolet com br site 2 times vehicles and 2 times offers, what we can expect much for their reputation today ? seems they are trampling on themselves
Bob this truck is really the overseas version of the present Colorado.
It has a slight wheel base difference, uses the lower bed sides and generally more plain inside. I also believe it is diesel only.
The 23 here will be an update of the present platform with an all new electrical architecture system. It will not share anything much with the S10.
The Colorado got a full make over for the American market as these overseas models would not do well here.
The S10 does well in South America and is the best selling truck in a number of their countries.
Nope wrong as usual
Rumors say that the next generation S10 will indeed share the 31XX-2 platform update with Colorado, as a way to reduce costs and gain greater competitiveness in Latin America, where Hilux (which also shares the platform with Tacoma) sells much more.
It’s a rebadged Colorado
Looks like a rebranded colly. Why all the excitement?
It is a version aimed at the South American markets, where its competitors Hilux and Ranger have versions with small off-road attributes, with the GR Sport and Storm versions, respectively.
because brazilians likes to copy USA and Europe instead having own
they copy all bad things, not the good ones, for example graffiti all vandalism it has in Europe
What did GM Brasil copy from the USA or Europe, besides the acronym Z71, since most current projects have nothing to do with any of these markets?
did not said GMB , said brazilians in general, Z71 is not copy because it is only there, there is none GM in Europe anymore since 2017… GM has only production in USA, Brasil, Argentina, South Africa and China
I bought a 2018 colorado and have the transmission shudder everyone has from 2017 to 2019 . Is there still the shudder in the 2022
Ken it’s the torque converter. Very common
