Automotive organization Wards Auto has recognized the 2021 GMC Yukon Denali XL on its 10 Best Interiors List, calling out the SUV’s attention to detail, unique content, and usable third row as highlights.
The GMC Yukon is all-new for the 2021 model year, introducing a fresh fifth generation for the nameplate. The Denali trim level once again serves as the range-topper of the bunch, and critically, it offers an exclusive interior layout that differs from the standard GMC Yukon interior, equipping a variety of unique content. What’s more, two vehicle lengths are offered, with the 2021 GMC Yukon XL available with an extended 225.7-inch overall length, as compared to the standard model’s 210.7-inch overall length.
Materials used inside the GMC Yukon Denali cabin are top-notch, as Wards Auto recognizes, highlighting the SUV’s open-pore teakwood inlays for the dash and door panels, as well as the Galvano metallic trim and array of leather surfaces. Wards Auto also appreciated the unique stitching and dark accent piping and dashboard trim.
“Not to take anything away from the Yukon’s luxury brethren Escalade, but we’re impressed by interior elements in the GMC that aren’t offered in the Cadillac,” Wards Auto states.
The organization also highlighted the GMC Yukon’s power-sliding center console, which can move forward and backwards up to 10 inches. The console’s multiple positions enables a number of uses, such as providing cup holders for passengers on the second row, or an armrest for front-seated passengers. The power-sliding center console also provides secure storage for valuables.
Further highlights include easy access to the third row and impressive cargo capacity. Total available cargo volume is rated at 144.7 cubic-feet with the seats folded flat.
Finally, Wards Auto called out the GMC Yukon’s new independent rear suspension, which not only provides a comfortable ride (especially with the Denali’s standard Magnetic Ride Control), but also opens up an additional 10 inches of third-row legroom.
“From steering wheel to liftgate, this is a beautifully executed interior,” says Wards Auto editor Tom Murphy.

Beautiful interior! My biggest complaint with GM is the quality of interiors vs. much of the competition. Glad to see some recognition too for a superb looking Denali.
I think the headlights really set this off. I love it.
I wholeheartedly expected to see Chucky Cheese on the same list!
Escalade platinum interior missed the Mark for me. Very disappointing
