Chevy Silverado Electric Gets Huge Infotainment Screen

General Motors is gearing up to release an electrified variant of the popular Chevy Silverado 1500 full-size pickup. Among the new features expected to debut with the upcoming Chevy Silverado electric is a huge infotainment screen for the cabin.

As GM Authority covered earlier this month, General Motors will unveil the new Chevy Silverado electric at the Consumer Electronics Show on Wednesday, January 5th, 2022. Confirmation of the model’s debut at CES 2022 coincided with the announcement that the pickup would come equipped with an available segment-leading fixed-glass roof on retail models, offering greater visibility, headroom, and an enhanced sense of spaciousness to the cabin.

The announcement also included teasers showing the new Chevy Silverado electric from above, giving us a glimpse of the new fixed-glass roof. Critically, the teaser also reveals a huge digital infotainment screen.

The new Chevy Silverado electric’s infotainment screen appears to be extended out towards the driver, with wide, horizontally oriented positioning, as well as possibly a curved screen surface. It’s possible that the curved panel could house both the infotainment system display, as well as the driver instrument panel, similar to the infotainment layout offered by the latest fifth-generation Cadillac Escalade, introduced for the 2021 model year.

Additional features expected to debut with the Chevy Silverado electric include the confirmed availability of a four-wheel steering system, which enables the vehicle to be turn all four wheels at the same time for added agility and a tighter turning radius at low vehicle speeds, plus improved handling and stability at higher speeds. Additionally, the four-wheel steering system will provide enhanced trailering dynamics.

As for the powertrain specs, the Chevy Silverado electric will offer customers an estimated range of more than 400 miles with a full battery charge. Under the skin, the battery-driven pickup truck will run GM’s Ultium battery technology and Ultium drive technology.

  1. Need a bigger screen, don’t want to get caught with pants down like this generation of truck with cheap, crappy interior and tiny screen.

  2. Funny how the current generation of Silverado is crappy interior I sat in one and loved it… My wife had Dodge with the giant screen and I hated it everything ran through the screen no hard controls for HVAC… So if the screen breaks your screwed… I will take the crappy interior with the knobs and buttons over a giant look at me screen!

I agree that it’s excessive but it’s now expected in most high-end luxury vehicles now.

    2. Well then, ShockandAwe you should be stoked with Chevy’s new refresh screen as it’s pretty much class leading in size. Unfortunately from your most recent comments it sounds like you’re still a little girl complaining.

    1. Just a guess, LG. LG makes almost all the panels for TV’s.

      1. Not sure the type of screen in the truck, but LG makes almost all of the OLED panels, not true for LCD.

  6. Distracted driving???? Drivers & Cell phones are bad enough….even with the small screen I currently have any time a text or message comes across the phone it pops up on that screen and your eyes automatically divert from the road to the screen…. I guess a ‘bigger’ screen will eliminate all that ??? Not.

  7. Now that is a Proper Modern Screen….too bad it is like two years away.

  9. Seems like no matter how much the auto manufacturers put in can never satisfy one’s satisfaction. If you want a big screw stay home watch your tv. Talk about road safety ! Complaints complaints!! I guess people don’t cares about quality make of vehicles. Yes, more accessories that people don’t really use and paid arms and legs for it. Make em happy and throw me some money while you at it.

  10. Do to chip shortages and constraints the screens will not be installed on the first 7000 vehicles that are produced and it will be a 14 months wait from the time of production. Also, they will remove heated rear seats and the HD radio and give you a $3 rebate on your purchase but, the rebate will take about 4 months and add an additional 18 months to your order time.

  11. With all the talk about how great Electric Cars are, what would be the life expectations of a a Electric vehicle, will you still be able to get a battery for a older vehicle or do you just dispose of it?And after losing the tax revenue from gasoline, how does the lost tax revenue for supposedly for roads and bridges get replaced by Electric vehicles.?

  12. I own an EV and the weird obsession with screen size is kind of funny to me. The new MachE, Tesla, and Subaru screens are so large they simply look tacky and gawdy to me. I’m also more of a fan of in-dash screens rather than the stick-on tablet look, but to each their own. I want my vehicle to look finished, not slapped together with spare parts from Radio Shack. A 10″ in-dash screen is plenty, we’re meant to look at the road, not gaze at huge screens.

The all glass roof is another disappointing trend and not worth a bucket of spit.

Thus ends my grump rant for today.

  13. No, I just complained, I didn’t complain about others complaining. So your complaint about my complaint about others complaining is wrong. Maybe I should file a complaint about your complaint about my complaint about others complaining.
