Artist Imagines Custom GMC Hummer EV ‘Warthog’ In New Rendering

The GMC Hummer EV hasn’t even begun customer deliveries yet, but already the enthusiast community is dreaming up different ways to customize the brawny electric pickup.

This digital rendering imagines what the GMC Hummer EV would look like if it were modified for overlanding. As such, it features lifted suspension with wider front and rear suspension tracks, a protective front bull bar with integrated fog lamps and a large pickup bed rack with an additional roof-mounted light bar. Other modifications we spot include a pair of CB radio antennas, a roof-mounted solar panel for powering onboard electronics and appliances and a utility rack with a handy shovel affixed to it. Aggressive off-road tires and army-inspired matte green paint complete the modifications made to this fantasy GMC Hummer EV.

This rendering looks great, in our opinion, and has us very excited for GMC Hummer EV pickup buyers to begin receiving their vehicles and customizing them. While many other current-day EVs have generated minimal interest from enthusiasts and have very limited aftermarket support, we think the Hummer’s status as an off-roader could attract buyers who will be eager to modify it with off-road wheels, larger tires, different suspension, roof racks, light bars and more. GM will also offer more than 200 of its own factory accessories for the vehicle, including a light bar, roof cross rails, alternate finish badges, a bed-mounted vertical spare tire carrier, rocker protectors with steps and much more.

Production of the 2022 GMC Hummer EV Pickup Edition 1 will begin at the GM Factory Zero plant in Michigan later this year. All examples of the First Edition model have already been spoken for, although customers can still pre-order the lesser EV3X, EV2X and EV2 trim levels.
