A Closer Look At One Of The New 2022 Chevy Equinox Wheels

Previously, GM Authority provided an overview of the five available wheel sets offered for the refreshed 2022 Chevy Equinox, four of which are new. Now, we’re taking a closer look at one of the two 19-inch wheel options.

Assigned RPO code PJR, this aluminum wheel (shown below) features a split five-spoke star-like design with a contrasting finish comprised of bright aluminum accents and a dark gray base. The design of the PJR wheel is shared with the PJS wheel, though the latter is a much darker – almost black – monotone color.

The new PJR wheel is offered on 2022 Chevy Equinox LT (1LT but not 2FL) and Premier (1LZ) trim levels. It is not available on LS or RS models. For the LT trim level, the wheel is not available on models finished in Seaglass Blue Metallic or Iron Gray Metallic. These color restrictions do not apply to Premier models.

Interestingly, when ordering these PJR wheels, the Equinox gets shipped from the factory with SN7 wheels – which are also 19-inch aluminum wheels. Upon arriving from the factory, the dealer will replace the factory-mounted wheels with the PJR wheels and ship the SN7 wheels back to the GM ADI (accessory distribution center).

In other words, the SN7 wheel effectively serves as a placeholder, but it’s an actual wheel rather than a true placeholder wheel.

All 2022 Chevy Equinox wheel choices offered by Chevrolet from the factory are shown in the gallery above, and wheel availability is detailed in the table below. The table lists the five sets of 2022 Equinox wheels, along with the corresponding RPO Codes, diameters, materials, finishes, and availability by trim level.

2022 Chevy Equinox wheel

GM refreshed the Chevy Equinox for the 2022 model year, giving its best-selling CUV new front and rear ends, a new RS trim level, plus various other minor enhancements and new features. One major change was the complete removal of the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LTG engine, which served as a more powerful option in the vehicle.

The refreshed model was originally planned and announced as the 2021 Chevy Equinox before being delayed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. It launched the next model year as the 2022 Chevy Equinox.

  1. Unless that wheel comes with the 2.0L/9spd, nobody cares…

    1. LOL @ the “RS” badges on that weakly 1.5T.

Look out, all 170 horses are raging, giving you that same exhilarating feel you get flooring it in a ’92 Bonneville.

I love my 2018 2.0 so much and its even cooler now they discontinued it!

      1. Yeah, and boo hoo for me! I like how they discontinue options before most people get the chance to buy a vehicle with what they were planning on. And no, I’m not getting a 170 peanut motor!

  3. Sorry to you equinox lovers, no matter what will you put on this vehicle it’s still boring looking, I could just imagine the 1.5 L being the only motor in this thing, and the summertime with the air conditioning on you better make sure you carefully plan when you’re going to pass someone. I was fortunate enough to get a terrain in 2020 with the 2 0 L, just seems general motors is backstepping with their gas engines, and the competition is taking advantage of it.

  5. Put some pep in the pup. It should have an option for a upgrade like the 2.7 turbo engine.

  6. Is anyone buying this suv for the rims, I wouldn’t buy this car if they dropped the price by $7 thousand without the 2 liter. Love my 2018 2.0 and average 27 mpg.

  7. Only thing I can say is that the 2.0L takes the more expensive 93 octane gas which sucks because it cost around 55-70 cents per gallon now yay

  8. Mc486 no u don’t with the 93 octane. It is recommended to put premium, it is not mandatory. I use 89 and it runs fine and still average 27 mpg. No pinging, nothing. Today’s engines adjust timing with no issues. U may lose a few horse power. I know people that use regular, again no issues. This 2.0 is fun to drive, I can tell u. Not an underpowered 1.5
