The 2022 GMC Sierra HD (Heavy Duty) – which consists of Sierra 2500HD and 3500HD models – adds a single new exterior colors to its palette: Forest Metallic. Here’s our first look at the new green hue.
Assigned color code GHR and touch-up paint code WA-610G, Forest Metallic is the only green paint option available for the 2022 Sierra HD. It is also worth noting that Forest Metallic is one of six metallic paint colors available for the 2022 Sierra HD.
With two exterior paint options deleted for the 2022 Sierra HD, the addition of the new hue brings the total number of exterior paint options to ten for the heavy duty pickup truck, which includes:
- Cardinal Red
- Pacific Blue Metallic
- Quicksilver Metallic
- Summit White
- Onyx Black
- Forest Metallic
- Ebony Twilight Metallic
- Cayenne Red Tintcoat
The new Forest Metallic color is not included in the base price of the 2022 Sierra HD, and costs an extra $645. It’s available on all trim levels except for the Sierra (base) trim, and in conjunction with all four interior color combinations.
2022 Sierra HD Trim Levels:
- Pro (1SA)
- SLE (3SA)
- SLT (4SA)
- AT4 (4SB)
- Denali (5SA)
2022 Sierra HD Interior Color Combinations:
- Jet Black
- Jet Black with Kalahari
- Dark Walnut with Slate
- Dark Walnut with Dark Ash Gray
It’s worth noting that Summit White is the only exterior paint option included in the base price of the 2022 Sierra HD.
As of this writing, GMC dealers might have the 2022 Sierra HD in stock, including models in Forest Metallic. However, the ongoing microchip shortage has severely disrupted supply of Sierra pickups as well as most vehicles from other manufacturers. As such, the 2022 Sierra HD is currently in very short supply.
Prospective buyers may be interested to know that the 2022 model year sees the addition of a new set of wheels, seat belt adjustable guide loops, and a renaming of the base Sierra HD trim level, which is now called the Sierra Pro.

It’s about time they bring back some kind of green. Looks great!
Why you won’t buy it anyways.
I’m with you, Todd, on both fronts; green is due for a comeback and this shade looks great on the Sierra. Spread it across the lineup, GM and make 5 different shades of green. By the way, GM, why did you drop the green from the CT5?
Why is every color in the auto industry is in the dark mode? One or two shades of white, a red, a light silver, the rest dark!
Yup one of my favorite colors of all time for any auto manufacturer is chevys krypton green.
A new Hue.? for a new you. I like the green, and hope it makes a comeback.
My favorite!
And the same dogsh!t interior. It’s just embarrassing at this point
Jim, do a search on this forum for 2022 Silverado. For the 1500 a new interior, a slight redesigned grill assembly. The 2500 is usually a year later.
I’ve seen the new interior, I would hardly call it an upgrade. Literally years behind dodge and Ford. The 2500 is always a year later but in GM/Chevs case it’s 5-7yrs behind the competition
You must have awaken from a bad night out in your POS RAMbutt or your wife’s bigger POS Ferd. More so-called cheap plastic in these two than in all of Ladas combined
I’m a GM guy to the end but the interiors are so far behind. You’re lying to yourself if you can’t see it
Stop it. If you truly are trying to say gm has better interiors then ram and ford you are nothing but a fanboy facts are facts.
Price please
Ordered a 2022 Sierra HD Duramax in the new Forest Metallic in September , love that color . Hope it gets made and delivered by December or January . 🇺🇸👍🇺🇸
Mine gets delivered today. Kind of pumped haha
Hope it has good UV fade tolerance…..like most HD’s it’s going to sit in a field near Flint for ever.
Getting the forrest but wanted the brown that they dropped. Only 7 colors. Ford trucIs are really pretty but are fords with expensive filters.
I looking for GREEN Sierra
Only lasted one year…
