2022 Chevy Traverse Premier Redline Edition: Live Photo Gallery

Today, we bring you real-world photos of the 2022 Chevy Traverse, which we captured at the 2021 Motor Bella event in Detroit in September. The Traverse received a refresh for the 2022 model year, delivering various updates to the exterior such as restyled front and rear fascias along with a new door handle option, three new exterior colors, and several new wheel sets.

Specifically, the model seen here is the Traverse Premier with the optional Redline Edition package. The vehicle is finished in the Mosaic Black Metallic exterior color (option code GB8), which is new for the 2022 model year.

“The new Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban has received an overwhelmingly positive response from consumers,” said Chevrolet’s exterior design director, Holt Ware, referring to the all-new 2021 Tahoe and 2021 Suburban. “The new design of the [2022] Traverse gains this new commanding appearance and presence we know Traverse owners will appreciate.”

At the front, the 2022 Chevy Traverse features an all-new front fascia, consisting of a new grille and a set of thin headlights, which actually serve as the crossover’s daytime running lights (DRLs) and turn signals. Below them are the vehicle’s primary forward lighting elements (the actual headlights). The design motif takes after the 2019 Blazer, which the Bow Tie brand previously stated would influence the design of all of Chevy utilities.

Aside from the body changes stemming from the newfound headlights and tail lights, the side profile of the 2022 Chevy Traverse goes unchanged from the 2018-2021 model. The Traverse continues to have very large proportions, which are on display in the side profile view.

The Redline Edition contributes to the black-out look of this model thanks to Gloss Black window surround, Black door handles, Black roof rails, Black Traverse badges with Red outline, and Black painted rocker and wheel openings with Black Ice inserts.

The vehicle rides on a set of 20-inch Gloss Black painted aluminum wheels with Red accents, which are also unique to the Redline Edition package.

Out back, the 2022 Chevy Traverse gets a set of revised LED taillights that give it a more modern appearance. But since this model is equipped with the Redline Edition package, it features a set of darkened tail lamps, along with Black Chevrolet Bow Ties and a Black Ice license plate applique.

It’s worth noting that both the headlights and taillights use LED technology as standard on the 2022 Traverse, no matter the trim level.

2022 Chevy Traverse Redline Edition content includes:

    • Gloss Black window surround
    • Dark tail lamps

Other changes to the refreshed 2022 Chevy Traverse include the deletion of the base L trim level, meaning the LS is now the base model. Inside, the cabin gets new interior seating options, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a new available eight-inch infotainment screen.

The 2022 Traverse also sees a host of other technological improvements, including new standard safety equipment, such as Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking, Forward Collision Alert, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, IntelliBeam auto high beams and a Following Distance Indicator. Additionally, a new Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control system will be offered on the LT Leather (3LT), RS and Premier trims, while GM’s Safety Alert Seat will become standard on Premier and High Country models.

Production of the 2022 Chevy Traverse – as well as its platform mate, the 2022 Buick Enclave – is set to begin on October 4th following downtime at the GM Lansing Delta Township plant in Michigan, which has been idled since July 19th.

Notably, the refreshed versions of both the Chevy Traverse and Buick Enclave were originally set to arrive for the 2021 model year. However, both were pushed back to 2022 due to complications stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic.

  1. I took a look at these recently, I’ve always thought they were nice.

AWD premier redline, 310hp/266tq fwd based 52.5k.

AWD Explorer ST 400hp/415tq rwd based 50k

The interior, style, power and options on the ST blew it away. The traverse should be 10k cheaper for the premier /redline. If not 15.

Ordered an ST. Should be here in a few months.

    1. You didn’t do a very good price comparison. Top Traverse is much cheaper then the Explorer and towing capacity is better. I was looking at both for quite a while and just purchased a 2022 Traverse Premier Redline. Love it!

  6. Two GM SUV’s I didn’t buy (Bought Ford) because of no auto start/start deactivation BUTTON. Smart GM.

  7. J Rickard you mean auto start/stop? My wife’s Buick Enclave has it when I drive it I don’t mind it at all… We live in rural northern NJ so the auto start/stop does not get to work very often… Besides it’s nice to hear quite when at a stop light and save a little fuel ⛽. That’s my opinion though… Also I don’t know why GM is not putting a button in the Traverse and Enclave, the Equinox has had an off button for auto start/stop since 2019. Give it time it’s just like GM had the awful cylinder deactivation in their Fullsize trucks that everyone hates i believe they finally removed it from the vehicles.
