2022 Chevy Blazer With New Black Roof: First Photos

Back in May, GM Authority was the first to report that the 2022 Chevy Blazer will offer a new black two-tone roof option. Today, we have the very first photos of the feature.

The Black Two-Tone Roof for the 2022 Chevy Blazer carries RPO code 41T, which is a $550 option on LT and RS trim levels.

On the LT trim, it requires the $750 Midnight/Sport Edition (WJU) as well as one of the following five exterior colors:

  • Iridescent Pearl Tricoat (G1W)
  • Silver Ice Metallic (GAN)
  • Blue Glow Metallic (GHT)
  • Iron Gray Metallic (GIV)
  • Cayenne Orange Metallic (GLL)

Alternatively, the two-tone black roof option requires the $1,895 Redline Edition (WBL) and the Silver Ice Metallic (GAN) exterior color.

On the RS trim, it requires one the following five colors:

  • Iridescent Pearl Tricoat(G1W)
  • Red Hot (G7C)
  • Silver Ice Metallic (GAN)
  • Nitro Yellow Metallic (GCP)
  • Cherry Red Tintcoat. (GSK)

The new black roof option gives the 2022 Chevy Blazer a more unique and sporty appearance thanks to matching black A-, B-, and C-pillars, visually making the greenhouse fade away.

And for those who prefer the body-color roof, it’s is still available as a no-charge option.

The Start of Regular Production (SORP) for the 2022 Chevy Blazer at the GM Ramos Arizpe plant in Coahuila, Mexico, has been pushed back to October 18th. In fact, production of the Blazer has been idled since August 23rd, which marked the end of production of the 2021 model year, causing Blazer inventory in the U.S. to plummet to just eight days as of the first week of August.

Notable changes to the 2022 Chevy Blazer include the deletion of the L and LS models, resulting in the deletion of the base 2.5L I4 LCV engine and revised availability of the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY and 3.6L V6 LGX. In addition to the black two-tone roof option, the 2022 model year offers new wheel options, exterior refinements to the Premier model, and other updates.

  1. Body color roof any day on any vehicle imo.

  2. Other than soft top cars that is.

  3. The black roof visually lowers the Blazer and looks really really good with the red hot body color and blacked-out lower body.

  4. It will cook you in the hot desert sun in the summer.

    1. My exact thoughts. I have a white car with jet black interior and it roasts in the northern summer. I can’t imagine having a black roof on top of it.

  5. Leave out a couple of microchips, paint the roof black. Nice distraction.

  6. Nice look. It visually makes it look less thick in the middle as most CUV models look.

  7. Probably a $1,000.00 option…RPO YEN.

  10. So Paul what if your car is all black? It won’t cook you in the summer? I think it looks awesome! Tom it’s a $550 dollar option… Peanuts on an RS model! It kind of evokes the vinyl roofs on old cars.

  11. It looks nice. Too bad the Blazer RS is way over priced. With a sticker price in the low to mid $50k I won’t be parking one in my driveway. Not that you will be able to find one anytime soon anyway.

    1. The MSRP is not that high. My loaded RS with optional Cherry Coat paint was stickered at 47k, paid thousands less than that with employee pricing…yes I know they are hard to find and getting one off of MSRP will be difficult, but still not mid 50k price point.

      1. That may be true for you but where I live the MSRP is usually the low $50 range and with whatever incentives are offered you can maybe get away with the dealership advertising an Internet price in the upper $40k. At the end of the day whether it’s $50k or $47k it’s still just a car with AWD and large trunk. Basically it doesn’t offer the capability of a truck…just the price of a truck.

  12. T Furhueson… So you’d be willing to pay 47k-50k for a “Truck” but not a nice AWD CUV? Also your mistaken this not just a car with AWD and a trunk it offers much more room then a car…A Subaru to me is car with a trunk or an Audi. Don’t get me wrong trucks are nice but the ones with 4WD SUV bodies are over priced look at the Jeep Wrangler 50k-60k not that big not that much room I guess this is more “manly” and “burley”… Why doesn’t GM make you happy and make the Blazer a slow selling overpriced 4WD SUV… Then discounte it because of lack of sales that is what the old GM would have done which is why they went bankrupt!

    1. Well Pat you seem to have taken my last comment personally for some reason. All I was saying was that in my honest opinion it’s not worth the asking price. Ive test driven (2) RS models and had gone to the dealership with the intent of purchasing in each instance. Both instance I found it to be a “nice AWD CUV” as you put it, but not worth the money they want for one. Nice for the money isn’t going to cut it because so are offerings from the competition. You can get either a Jeep Grand Cherokee or Ford Explorer in a variety of trims (ST, Platinum, King Ranch) that no only offer seating for 5 but in some formats up to 7 with space convertible for cargo, which as we the Blazer doesn’t offer. And by the way those vehicles can be had for the same price or less than a Blazer. I purchased a High Country Silverado with a 6.2L new from a dealership lot during truck month. With factory and dealership incentives figured in (and before tax, title, and license fees) I was just over $46k…for a truck…a very nice truck. As I stated the Blazer for what it is, is overpriced. It’s a vanity vehicle not a valuable vehicle.

      1. The Explorer and the Grand Cherokee Chevy has two rival vehicles the Traverse and the Tahoe I won’t even mention the Suburban which dwarfs everything but an Ford Excursion… The Blazer is a lifestyle vehicle for people who can afford it… Yes the Blazer is expensive but there is a way around that wait for chip shortage nonsense to be over with wait two or three years and get a Blazer for $20,000 to $25,000 gently used… My wife just got a 2019 Buick Enclave Essence it’s two years old 32,000 miles on it, it’s like a brand new vehicle, and the best part is it was $27,000 a new Enclave in that trim is $50,000… I have bought two brand new cars in my life it’s the worst thing I ever did the new car luster wore off in less then a year! I didn’t take it personal I just can’t stand it when people come on here and constantly talk Smack about Chevy and GM… at least they are trying to sell people what they want!

    2. So, Pat, which car would you like best if you were to purchase. Subaru Outback XT or this Blazer RS?

    1. Jim I totally agree with you your right people have every right to state their own opinions… But how come when I state mine I am a jerk? Maybe it’s the way I type but if your going to bash GM and the Blazer which I happen to like then I have every right to defend it! I have owned three Chrysler vehicles and each one was junk sorry but I speak from experience and from my friend who is a mechanic… Dodge avenger using antifreeze at less then 20,000 miles, Dodge Journey transmission always heating up and throwing the engine light on for no reason, the oil filter housing leaking, constant wobble in wheels since new no matter what tires or balance, Sebrings where two of them brand new needed a transmission replacement, my friends Jeep Grand Cherokee everything was wrong with it… Now I have owned five GM vehicles and have never had any of these problems non have ever left me stranded expect for my 24 year old Blazer which I can see at that age. I love the Chrysler interiors and designs I just wish they where more reliable I am not a hater that’s my experience I don’t and won’t judge anyone or call anyone highschool names. Thank you 👍

    1. Peter I am an asshole not a jerk let’s get it right about me now! I am an asshole and proud of it! I don’t get it though if you don’t lik the vehicle then why even post a comment about it? That’s like me trolling the BMW chat rooms and I hate BMW’S so why even bother!?

      1. No you sir are a jerk. You can’t stand people having different opinions then you. I hope you aren’t married for your wife’s sake. Also let me let you in on a secret you aren’t the website dictator here you don’t get to control what people think or say. 😘😉

      2. Pat people come here because they are either fans of gm or just fans of cars in general. This website is set up for people to make comments. People read these articles then comment about it, just because someone might not like a certain vehicle doesn’t mean they aren’t entitled to their own opinion of it. It’s so weird how many people here think they are the gatekeepers of this website. You don’t have to get all bent out of shape just because someone doesn’t like a particular vehicle.
