The 2021 Buick Enclave marks the fourth model year of the second-generation crossover, arriving with a few updates and changes over the preceding 2020 model year. Now, Consumer Reports has recognized the 2021 Buick Enclave as one of the best luxury SUVs to buy right now.
In a recent report, Consumer Reports listed its picks for the top 10 Best Luxury SUVs To Buy Right Now. Each of the models listed scored high in Consumer Reports’ road tests and owner satisfaction scores. Each was also projected to have solid reliability, and each comes equipped with numerous advanced safety systems.
Consumer Reports gave the 2021 Buick Enclave an overall score of 76, including a Road Test score of 87 out of 100. The organization also rated it with 3 out of 5 with regard to predicted reliability, while predicted owner satisfaction was also scored 3 out of 5.
In terms of performance, the 2021 Buick Enclave scored 4 out of five in acceleration tests, hitting 60 mph from a standstill in 7.4 seconds. The ratings for the transmission and braking were both topped out at 5 out of 5, while Emergency Handling was rated at 3 out of 5.
Comfort and Convenience scores were all quite high, ranging between 4 and 5 with regard to Ride, Noise, Seat Comfort, Fit and Finish, and cargo space. The organization was most impressed by the comfortable ride and quiet cabin, as well as the roomy interior and easy-to-use infotainment. Consumer Reports also dubbed the powertrain and “smooth” and “lively.”
As for criticisms, Consumer Reports found the gear selector to be “unintuitive,” while the manual sunshade was considered out of step for the premium pricing. Consumer Reports also did not like that advanced safety features are only available for upper trim levels, while the overall 18 mpg in fuel returns were deemed unimpressive.

There’s a relatively new ride share only offered in Los Angeles (that I’m aware of) and our dealership uses them a lot. However, it’s a company that buys, fuels and maintains the fleet while just hiring the drivers for about $18.00 per hour. The only vehicles they use? Buick Enclave’s. So when it comes to using their own vehicles, I’d assume they want the best they can get for the money while keeping the costs of out of pocket maintenance as low as they can.
I’ve recently purchased a certified pre owned 2018 and I must say that, after driving the Telluride, Palisade and the Grand Cherokee L we chose the Enclave because it gave us everything we needed it was more room in 3rd row,it was best in comfort and was was very quiet inside. I honestly didn’t know that we would make the Enclave our purchase but we are very happy with it .
I think that’s what Buick should build on. Old school comfy rides
If it had the lateral legroom I wanted, Id buy an Enclave tomorrow.
I love the Enclave but it needs more power. Literally have a car engine for a heavy SUV, why not place the 2.7 turbo 4 they have in the Trucks/CT4 in there
Because then, you’d have people crawling out of the woodwork beefing about a four cylinder being in this class of car.
My wife has leased a 2020 Enclave for a little over a year, logging just shy of 10k miles. We have taken it on a few roadtrips loaded with kids and a roofrack stuffed full of beach gear…and have never ONCE had any issues with the amount of power it has. Gas mileage yes, but not power. The 3.6L and 9-speed are great.
I am on my fourth Enclave, a 2019 Avenir and I will tell you there is more than enough power, torque and quickness. The horse power and gearing makes the car super quick from stop to start and I tow a small 4×8 trailer from time to time and the car does not act there is a load behind it. Test drive an Avenir and you might change your mind. My $0.02
It’s always a surprise when Consumer Reports has something positive to say about a domestic brand.
We bought a 2020 Enclave when there “was no 2021 model”. Traded a GMC Acadia. I can say the Enclave is truly a pleasure to drive. (Unlike the GMC which drove like a truck). Very comfortable and performance-wise much more than adequate.
Unless I graduate to Caddy in 2024, I’ll be driving another Enclave.
What Acadia did you have? I went from a 2017 Acadia Denali -> 2020 Enclave. Both are great vehicles. The 9-speed is a bit better than the 6-speed in the Acadia, but the gas mileage of the Enclave is pretty bad.
Why are the two Authority sites shilling for CU?
I noticed that to.
