For a return of Build Breakdown to feature its new building and shred lot, the Hoonigan family invited pal Jose from the Bay to showcase his 800 horsepower supercharged Pontiac GTO and then shred some tires through an over-the-top drift-a-thon, all of which we see in this video.
Jose partnered with others to upgrade a 2006 Pontiac GTO, turning it into an 800-horse, tire-shredding beast. That entailed swapping out the stock GM LS2 V8 for a forged LS3, boosting it with a supercharger, supporting modifications under the hood, and adding cooling thanks to a radiator in the trunk fed by NASCAR-style side window vents. A large bump was added to the hood to accommodate the supercharger, but still required a cutout to fit everything in. Suspension upgrades included an upgraded rear end, while custom flared fenders make room for the wide pavement-melting rubber.
After going over the all the mechanics in this 14-minute video, Jose hops in the car at the 9-minute mark to get down to business.
While pushing the RPMs against the rev limiter throughout the two-and-a-half minute run, Jose fills the Burnyard with smoke, drifting back and forth across the small lot and even scrapping the wall a few times. Running his fuel tank dry was the only thing stopping him from totally melting the rubber off the rims.
Afterward, the Hoonigan team gave him an average score of 62 out of 69, obviously happy with Jose’s custom ride and performance.
“He is a showman,” the host remarked, then told Jose, “The minute you got in the car you went full mental, like at that point you just turned it all the way up. You’re like, forget it, at that point.”

Doh..could gave got all the add ons here in straya for the last 15yrs!
Not gonna lie. That looks awful.
Love how 04-06 GTOs get so much love ACROSS different car enthusiast barriers. whether it be drag, road racing, Drifting, street racing or just hooning and sideshows, the Australian bruiser and it’s two little bros (the G8 and Chevy SS) always bring the heat in the streets.
I have been a fan of New age GTOs since Rhys Millen was killing it in Formula Drift with the yellow and silver Goat! in fact I bought TWO GTOs because of that car and his driving. Still have my second one 16 years and 3 iterations later! Mine will have this same body kit, but different nose; hopefully by this summer. Great cars – and unfortunately – no longer a best kept secret in the LS community.
Only downside to racing and playing with one hard is the engine and trans are the cheapest things to get parts for. Body, suspension and interior parts are RARE and many times COSTLY!
