The fully refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 made its big entrance earlier this month, introducing a wealth of changes and updates over the preceding 2021 model year and pre-refresh 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 Limited. Now, we’re getting our first real-world look at the 2022 Silverado RST testing sans camouflage on public roads.
Chevy declined to show the 2022 Silverado RST trim level during the initial rollout of official images for the latest Chevy Silverado refresh. This particular model can be identified as the sportier RST trim level by its blacked-out and body-colored trim elements. The body consists of a Double Cab, Standard Bed configuration, while a 4×4 drivetrain turns output into traction.
The body is finished in crisp white paint, which provides a nice offset for the darker trim bits and details scattered across the sheet metal. Up front, we find the refreshed fascia treatment, the design of which GM Authority was the first to report on back in May. Thin upper lighting elements shine the way forward, while C-shaped lighting below are used for the signatures and turn signals. The upper portion of the grille includes a prominent horizontal grille bar, while the Chevy Bow Tie is high in the grille.
Moving over to the profile, we find the corners occupied by 20-inch Painted aluminum with machine face and Argent Metallic pockets, tagged with RPO code RD4. With a split-spoke design and two-tone finish, the 20-inch rollers give the 2022 Silverado RST refresh a solid stance and style, blending in well with the black-and-white exterior scheme.
The rear of the 2022 Silverado RST includes familiar taillight housings, while the lower bumper is finished in the same white paint as the rest of the body. Step-ups are located in the corners, while a tonneau cover is stretched across the bed.
Unfortunately, customers eager to get the 2022 Silverado refresh into their driveway will have to wait a bit longer, as the truck is not scheduled to arrive in dealers until the spring of the 2022 calendar year.

This is cool but where is the GMC Sierra reveal?
The 2022 Sierra will be revealed on 10/21/21 @ 8:00 PM
At least it still doesn’t have those obnoxious plastic fender well trim pieces like GMC. Anything plastic never holds up on exterior parts and I am a full time Chevy guy and probably always will be!! So this is not from some guy driving another brand of truck and making comments! I have owned 25 Chevrolet trucks in my lifetime. There are good looking trucks in all brands and it’s good there is variety for all of us.
What happened to the dual exhaust? Did Chevrolet discontinued it on the 2022 model. Definitely this has to be the base model. Nothing stands out or turn heads on this RST. Would’ve been nice if an new rim was designed for this truck. Not impressed at all. Hopefully when I build my own, I can get more features added.
I’m ready for the next generation truck, maybe it will be fully baked and not half-assed like this one.
Of course a headlight issue
The right side DRL is probably off because the right turn signal is on as you can see in the other pictures. The shot just looks like it was captured during the off cycle of the signal making it look like the DRL isn’t working.
I would expect nothing less.
Nice, but the rear end needs a bow tie or a black CHEVROLET name.
Why? You actually like the massive chevrolet written across the back of the Silverado?
Yeah I do it throws back to the old c/k design
Who decided the bowtie should be in the upper part of the grill. So sick of the over stylized Chevy products with the squinty eyes. The Camaro, Blazer, and Silverado have all gone to far away from a “Chevy” look.
I know what you mean. I think GM is letting Chevy take the charge with all the new cutting edge styles while using my GMC as more of their “classic and classy” styles. I’m not opposed to it, and it’s selling more vehicles, but it’s pushing me towards GMC and away from Chevy.
Cutting edge styles? 🤣
Ok, but they’re the same truck, with the only significant difference being the styling.
styling, materials and sound deadening. GMC is marketed as uplevel to comparable Chevy offerings.
It is simple GM Hierarchy. With trucks, Chevrolet is the volume brand, GMC is their premium brand, and if talking SUV’s then Cadillac is of course on top with the luxury brand. This way they cover all aspects of the market. $55K all the way to $110K (talking SUV’s) they have the whole market covered. Many models overlap to cover all price ranges, but in general GM does distinguish the two brands as different beyond sheet metal My Denali has acoustic laminated glass in the windshield and front side windows, whereas Chevy only offers if in the windshield, Does it make a difference? IDK, but it is a talking point. The GMC truck in genera has a more refined sophisticated look, understated without crazy lines all over the place overall compared to the edgy and angular look the Chevy trucks get. Tech also flows down hill. someone mentioned HUD. GMC offered it a year before Chevy could get it. A GMC will always cost a few hundred dollars more than an equally equipped Chevy .
Exactly
GMC classic and classy? Are you looking at the same truck? It is just as over styled as Chevy just in a different way. The missive grille, the chrome dimples around the fog lights, the fake air intake on top of the grille and vampire teeth on the bottom, that is anything but classic and classy. I almost prefer the Chevy this time around. Both have grown on me but I don’t put much weight on looks, that is far down the totem pole on reasons to buy.
You do realize back in 69 and 70;Chevy moved the bow tie to the hood and a solid bar saying Chevrolet across the grill.
Years before they had the now tie on the hood too.
The moving of the emblem is not new and is a update on a Chevy look from the past.
Exactly why GMC sales have grown since ’18,the people that want the traditional look have moved to them.
Or it might be the popularity of the Denali and that you can get things like cooling seats, Hud and other standard items not available at Chevy.
The GMC styling has not exactly frozen in time or style.
Cooled seats and HUD are available on the Chevy. Most items on the GMC are available on the Chevy especially with the High Country. I think adaptive ride control may not be? Ditto with max trailering not available on the Denali but don’t quote me on that. Styling is really the big difference between the two.
well over half of the ltz’s that I Have noticed have cooled seats and I do not think they are all that, you still stick to them for 15 minutes after the cabin gets cool.
The Denali is only a luxury truck if you look exclusively at GMC and Chevy dealerships.
Hey how long for the wait on this model year?is china going to give you the chips for the trucks?I am still waiting on my gmc still no show
I think it’s greatly improved. Still aggressive but a cleaner design.
Piss off
Wow, heaven forbid he express a liking for a design.
You do the same piss off
Dude, he just said he liked the styling, without doing or saying anything even remotely offensive. Maybe you should take your own advice, troll, I’m not going anywhere.
Get off your knees and stop being a 🐓 🍭
Poor Austin never grew up…he probably still cries for his mommy and breast feeds!
You trying to get pregnant or something? You are all up on that mans nuts.
Austin get out of here with your abusive behavior.
Shane the website gatekeeper is back telling people what they can talk about and who can be on the website. I found a few people for you that bashed gm without talking about every other car manufacture that you can go jump on next.
Shawn, you’re an idiot. Defending a toxic troll.
I knew your only response would be another insult. Let people have there own opinions if it bothers you that much start your own website where you can be the permanent gatekeeper.
Wow nice going Shane good job on putting that man down and insulting him. Do you feel better about yourself now?
I wasn’t real sure about the new look from previous pics, but the RST in this color is hideous – maybe pictures don’t do it justice, I’ll hold final opinion until I see it in person I guess
It’s almost fixed, I was expecting more refreshing to the rear panels and taillights, still looks like a Tundra, and now the bowtie looks out of center with the grille, almost like it was added last second. Putting it in the center bar of the grille would look way better, but I’ve lost faith in Chevy anyway, will never own anything newer than 2018.
Looks like the predator. Definitely some high level trolls working within gm
Need pics of interior, hopefully there’s no wood grain.
I don’t get their desire to hang onto the “boomerang” during this refresh. It’s like they couldn’t think of something better. Reminds me of the time they spent money on the Camaro refresh to make it look the same. At least this time they addressed the worst part (the interior) unlike the Camaro.
Nice but I’m happy with my 66 Chevy Stepside and 99 2×2 Tahoe.
Ok, that looks better if not good. And I’m the REAL CHevy Guy.
Where’s the reg cab?!
I am waiting to see the regular cab longbed 4×4 work truck version.
how about the regular cab 6 1/2 foot bed ?????? still waiting…
Someone posted on here it has to do with CAFE
I guess it comes to weight or the mass of the body.
No diesel available in the 2022 RST refresh, that’s lame IMO
I do not like the tail lights. Look terrible IMO. May go GMC instead. Depending on the color combinations offered.
