The refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 is finally here, arriving with a long list of changes and updates over the preceding 2021 model year.
The big headline here is the completely overhauled cabin space, which can be found on LT trim levels and above. The infotainment spec now includes a 13.4-inch color touchscreen as standard on LT, RST, LT Trail Boss, LTZ, and High Country trims, as well as the new ZR2 off-roader. A 12.3-inch configurable instrument cluster is standard on all models equipped with the updated interior, as is a range of Google-powered features, such as Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Play. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included as well, while an optional electronic shift control feature is offered with most trim levels.
Making the list of tech options is the GM Super Cruise semi-autonomous driver-assist system for the High Country trim level. Notably, the 2022 Chevy Silverado will also offer assisted trailering capabilities. Chevy Safety Assist is standard on all enhanced trim levels.
Outside, we find revised styling with a new front fascia, as well as new lighting with animated walk-up and walk-away features, and swiping turn signals on certain trims. Three new exterior colors join the lineup, namely Dark Ash, Sand Dune, and Glacier Blue Metallic.
The powertrain spec was updated as well, and now includes enhancements to the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine with 20 percent more torque. The 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax also gets greater towing, up to 13,300 pounds.
The refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado trim level lineup now includes the off-road-ready ZR2, which arrives with front and rear e-lockers, a taller ride height, and Multimatic DSSV dampers. Check out our complete coverage of the new 2022 Chevy Silverado ZR2 for more info.
To note, the refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 differs from the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 Limited, the latter of which is offered as a “stop-gap” model that bridges the pre-refresh 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 and refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500. The latter was originally slated to arrive early in the 2022 model year, but was pushed back due to a variety of complications and delays.
The refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado is set to arrive in dealers in the spring of the 2022 calendar year.
