GMC Hummer EV To Feature Optional Sky Convertible Top

The GMC Hummer EV offers a wide variety of interesting features that make it not only a futuristic off-roading machine, but also comfortable and exciting to drive. To this latter point, the GMC Hummer EV can be outfitted with an optional Sky Convertible Top to provide an open-air driving experience whenever desired.

The optional Sky Convertible Top for the GMC Hummer EV is tagged with RPO code SBD, and is priced at $1,695. The optional extra will be available later in 2021 for GMC Hummer EV Pickup Edition 1 models. For now, the feature is only available on Pickup models, and not the GMC Hummer EV SUV.

The Sky Convertible Top is manually operated, and integrates directly with the vehicle structure, functioning in place of the two front Sky Panels and I-Bar. Designed to be durable enough to withstand year-round use, the Sky Convertible Top quickly easily lets in more sun and air when the weather is right, or folds down for some shade.

The GMC Hummer EV will be available with multiple performance levels and powertrain arrangements, including one-, two-, and three-motor models. The range-topping model will dole out upwards of 1,000 horsepower and 11,500 pound-feet of torque, sprinting to 60 mph in as little as 3 seconds.

Under the skin, the GMC Hummer EV rides on the GM BT1 all-electric platform, utilizing the automaker’s Ultium Battery Technology and Ultium Drive Technology. Production will take place at the GM Detroit-Hamtramck facility in Michigan, now known as Factory Zero.

In addition to an optional Sky Convertible Top, the GMC Hummer EV also offers a wealth of high-tech features, such as CrabWalk mode, which orients the rear wheels in the same direction as the front wheels while cornering, allowing the vehicle to essentially move sideways, as seen captured on video during the recent Woodward Dream Cruise.
