GMC Hummer EV Pickup To Offer Rocker Protectors With Assist Steps

The GMC Hummer EV is made to tackle the rough stuff with a wide variety of high-tech features. Sometimes, however, all you need is some sturdy steel to keep your rig protected, such as with the Hummer EV Pickup’s Rocker Protectors with Assist Steps.

The GMC Hummer EV Pickup’s Rocker Protectors with Assist Steps are designed specifically for those owners looking to take the new Hummer off-roading, and mount along the flanks of the battery-driven truck below the front and rear doors on both sides of the vehicle. Each of the rockers are a one-piece, stainless-steel welded structure that can not only be used as a step-up, but also can handle rock-sliding forces when adventuring off-road, with enough strength to support 50 percent of the vehicle weight, and 20 percent of vehicle weight during a lateral crawl.

The rockers are powder-coated in black and come with a rough, textured surface. The step can support up to 300 pounds.

The GMC Hummer EV Pickup’s Rocker Protectors with Assist Steps are tagged with RPO code S6L, and are priced at $1,300. The Rocker Protectors with Assist Steps are included as standard on the range-topping GMC Hummer EV Edition 1.

As GM Authority has covered previously, the GMC Hummer EV is also offered with options like a Bed-Mounted Vertical Spare Tire Carrier, an Audio System by Kicker for the MultiPro Tailgate, a Sky Panel Storage Set for the front trunk, and a manually folding Sky Convertible Top.

GMC Hummer EV customer have multiple drivetrain configurations to choose from, with the top three-motor setup producing a maximum of 1,000 horsepower and 11,500 pound-feet of torque. Under the skin, the GMC Hummer EV1 rides on the GM BT1 platform, while the powertrain incorporates both GM’s Ultium battery technology, and GM’s Ultium electric motor technology. Production is slated to take place later this at GM’s Factory Zero plant in Michigan, previously known as the GM Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly plant.
