General Motors ended production of the Chevy Impala in the 2020 calendar year, with the final example rolling off the assembly line at the GM Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant in Michigan in February. Now, however, one digital artist is giving us a look at what modern-day Chevy Impala SS Coupe could bring to the table.
Coming to us from automotive artist Rain Prisk, this Chevy Impala SS Coupe concept looks as though it takes inspiration from the modern Chevy Camaro for the front-end design, with wide, narrow headlights bookending a wide, narrow grille section. The Chevy Bow Tie is placed front and center, while lower in the fascia, the front bumper includes a large central intake with a mesh honeycomb grille insert covering. In the upper right-hand corner of the lower grille section is a red SS badge, while the corners of the bumper include tall, vertically oriented signature lighting.
The profile of the concept keeps things clean and simple, with a variety of horizontal lines emphasizing the modern Chevy Impala SS Coupe’s overall length. The shoulder line is emphasized by a polished chrome strip, while the window surrounds are also done in chrome. The Impala nameplate can be found lower in the door, while the Impala emblem was added to the rearmost pillar.
The tail end of the Chevy Impala is squared-off to offer a decent rear trunk, similar to the Impala SS produced through the ‘90s. According to the artist, the ’90s-era Impala SS was indeed some of the inspiration behind this new rendering concept, as were the Chevy Impalas produced in the ‘60s.
The whole thing is finished in classic black paint, giving the modern Chevy Impala that quintessential Intimidator aesthetic. The cabin space looks as though it’s finished in tan leather upholstery, with the Chevy Bow Tie emblems in black added to the headrests.
It’s a good-looking concept, and should do well to impress fans of the old-school Chevy Impala eager to resurrect the nameplate with an extra dose of speed.

perhaps a better name would be Chevelle.
I’d almost rather see the Monte Carlo return as a big electric coupe
I agree lose the slash fog or daytime running lights something cooler needs 2B add. Monte Carlo SS 2 door / Impala SS 4 door go after the Dodge Duo Charger / Challenger
A lot of these modern computer renderings lack imagination and a re a hodge podge of different vehicles, but this….
This is a good rendering, imaginative and creative! I’d love to see something like this a reality, and marketed at a reasonable price. I’m seeing newer Nissan and KIA sedans selling. A solid American brand could sell well it the pri be is right and marketed well.
I’m impressed. That actually looks pretty Good. I like upright roof line and very sinister looks.
Now that is a car I would really give thought to. Coming of age in the ‘50s 2dr coupes we’re the best looking cars. 4drs are convenient, but 2drs rule. The only thing I don’t like is the black color. I’ve had 3 black cars in my life, all were beautiful, only if your willing to wash them every 2 days. At 78 I don’t care to spend that much time washing my car. Once a week is enough!
Imagine this car being built on the Omega platform and getting LT5 power, that would be a nice alternative for the Challenger Hellcat Redeye, also serving Camaro customers that would like something more roomy.
Stop with the crappy renders
That looks great! IT would be practical and cool . You could even make it a sedan ala the ’94-’96 Impala SS. Yes, this is very good looking rendering!
Wish GM would have had this guy designing trucks!
Fist in the wind trucks are selling like crazy! People love the look of both trucks
I think Chevy should make this.put a grown man motor under the hood, give it the prestige of the 96 and only make a few hundred to make it a collectors edition and make Dodge go sit down….. just a thought..
Looks like it’s a mashed up Camaro on the front and a Cadillac on the rear. Meh
As the owner of several late-model GM performance cars (Camaros and Corvettes), this thing looks absolutely awesome! It’s too bad that none of these types of cars are in the plans. Barra and her crew are too busy pushing more cookie cutter CUV’s and imaging other EV’s to bring to life.
Hey GM, you still have plenty of faithful customers that enjoy performance variants of coupes and sedans. Maybe some day, they will make a comeback.
Use the omega platform. Do impala/monte for Chevy and do a Buick roadmaster with nice luxury appointments
That looks good. The reason you won’t see this is the same you don’t see compact sedans outside Cadillac in the US, CUV/trucks. The profit margin on a car would be less then a truck.
Cool design IMO. Reminds me the V12 BMW 850 from the 90s… +1 for something like this, perhaps under the name Impala SS with the Corvette’s engine. There always was room / a niche market for this kind of stuff… The Marauder, the Impala SS sedan and other cars before. While it won t happen “tomorrow”, perhaps GM would build for a last time something like this before internal combustion engines would be history…
I would buy one!
I LOVE IT !!!!!
It would make an awesome Police Cruiser like it’s 1994-96 ancestors. Being a retired HWY Patrol officer I remember the days of high powered cars. The Caprice of those three years was the BEST! The “crap” Ford calls police vehicles are a joke and don’t hold a candle to the Chevs. The detuned civilian version the Caprice SS was also a classic muscle car. Build it and they will buy it!!
love the concept, being an owner of a modified LT1 roadmaster wagon , would love to see this in a wagon, yes with an lt4 or 5 option.
Yes, I like it. Do a 2 door wagon and I’d be buying
I want it ! Please
Would like to see rendering of an Impala SS EV sedan.
Yes Please!
I like it, but with it being a 2 door it would never happen.
So he took the back of a Cadillac CTS and the front of a camero then merged them together! *Golf clap* pretty innovative…
Just traded in my 2018 Impala for a 2021 Trailblazer. Love both. My biggest complaint is that neither had a stick shift manual transmission. Can’t believe I’m the only person who REALLY wants this. Hate the paddle shift!
Chevrolet should have built a 2-door all along maybe even had a convertible.
