While the Chevrolet vs. Ford rivalry is all about the mainstream space, the battle for the luxury segment is between Cadillac and Lincoln. During the second quarter of 2021, GM’s luxury brand has again outsold that of its crosstown rival.
Specifically, Cadillac sold 36,129 units during the second quarter of 2021, while Lincoln deliveries totaled 23,514 units.
The Cadillac Escalade was the highest-selling model for GM’s luxury brand, netting 10,874 deliveries. Comparatively, the most popular Lincoln model was the Corsair with 6,393 sales during the quarter. Interestingly, the Escalade is the most expensive Cadillac available, while the Corsair is the most affordable Lincoln.

Meanwhile, the Cadillac model to experience the highest growth rate was the CT4, moving from 591 units sold in Q2 2020 to 2,303 units in Q2 2021. That substantial jump in sales volume is the result of the CT4 just beginning to launch during the first quarter of 2020. For Lincoln, the Navigator experienced the largest gain, growing nearly 60 percent to 4,396 units.

Car Sales
Given that Lincoln has discounted all of its sedans, Cadillac easily outsold its rival in the passenger car department more than five-fold during Q2 2021.

As mentioned above, the CT4’s astronomical growth of nearly 300 percent is the result of very limited availability during Q2 2020, with the new sedan having launched in Q1 2020. Meanwhile, sales of the CT5 fell a slight 5 percent to 2,451 units. Notably, production of the CT4 and CT5 has been extremely limited due to idling of the GM Lansing Grand River plant as a result of the ongoing microchip shortage. In fact, production of the 2022 models has been pushed back to October.

The XT5 was the second-best-selling Cadillac model with an 83 percent growth in sales volume to 10,573 units. Notably, the XT4 was the only utility model from either brand to post a decrease in sales, particularly as a result of availability due to the semiconductor crisis.
Comparatively, the Corsair was the most popular Lincoln with 6,393 deliveries, for a growth of nearly 11 percent. The Nautilus followed as the second-best-selling Lincoln utility with 6,055 units sold for a growth of over 20 percent.

Overall, the Cadillac brand sold 12,615 more units than Lincoln during the second quarter of 2021 on higher car and utility sales. It’s also worth noting that General Motors (Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick and GMC) sold more vehicles altogether than the Ford Motor Company (the Ford brand plus Lincoln) during the same timeframe. To wit – GM posted 688,236 deliveries to Ford’s 475,327 units.

Best vehicle for safety, ride and handling. Well done.
Cadillac sales cars and would sale even more vehicles if they names them vs abbreviation Lincoln don’t sale cars “Huge Mistake “
Makes sense. I see a lot more caddy’s than Lincoln’s on the road.
Much to do about nothing except Escalade how about Lexus BMW Volvo MERCEDES THEY are kicking GM and Fords but
Save for Volvo, how many models are in those makes, and how many variations of those same models are there too?
Cadillac works with 6 models, and Lincoln is even less. Oh, and these two do not sell plumber’s vans to inflate their sales figures either.
So we’re listening to a guy who can’t even write properly. Mercedes and BMW have a lot more models up there sleeve to sell while Cadillac only has a few models and Lincoln only has 4 models to sell. The more models available on the market the more better sales numbers show up.
from “standard of the world” to “standard of detroit”. way to go cadillac.
Out sold Lincoln and received $10K more per vehicle in the process.
Missed the bigger headline…..Cadillac outsold Suzuki and Isuzu by 15,000% combined!
Not to mention Simca, Peugeot, Borgward, and Citroen!
Cadillac is a much better built than Lincoln and sees much less shop time.
How do you gauge that, recalls? My 2013 ($49K) ATS 3.6 Premium was recalled 8X… I’ve never had a car in my life recalled more than 1X and most never recalled… no, they’re not better built in any way… GM is cheap on everything, they never give their customers “more” for their dollar, that’s why Hyundai and Kia are eating the lunch of Chevy and Genesis is going to each Cad’s brunch. (2 meals). Their 2 SUV’s are compared to BMW’s & Mercedes not Cadillacs which are compared to Acura or Lexus… Lincoln has 4 excellent SUV/CUV’s whereas Cadillac has 3 pathetic CUV’s that are at best near luxury GM Platform vehicles, they are not Cadillacs and not special in any way… GM just made the 2.0T std on the XT5 so the V6 is an extra cost option… why because the 2.0T is better… no, they want folks to spend the $ to upgrade… cheap b@$t@rd$… The Escalade has somehow become this icon… whereas its just a nicer Suburban… GM has lost touch with customers and it shows in their “ehh” lineup and Typhoid Mary’s PC push to EV’s…. no thank you… and the stock… after 10years at the helm its done zero. If she were a he, he’d be long gone…
Congratulations Cadillac! You’re the tallest midget in Detroit. Henry Leland would be so proud.
WOW! Great Line… SO TRUE…
I’ve said it before, Cadillac’s sole purpose is to outsell Lincoln.
At least Lincoln is focused more on their customers than on winning the battle. That is all I hear from Cadillac’s side. Look what we put in a new Escalade it’s a little bit better than Lincoln Navigators. Lincoln has a 25 speaker stereo Cadillac has a 36 speaker stereo My God. Maybe you should focus more on building an excellent car and on your customers since they are the ones paying for the overpriced things and not worry so much about Lincoln. I still have yet to see one on the road and I travel for a living I’m on the road every day all day. I see lots of Lincoln’s .
I see more Tesla’s and Genesis vehicles than Cadillacs by a long shot… people know GM Vehicles are overpriced crap…
Cadillac a case study in WASTED potential…. Just like brain dead GM missmanagement wants it…
