The Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing has been named as a semi-finalist in the 2022 North American Car of the Year awards.
Jurors for the North American Car, Truck and Utility Vehicle of the Year Awards (NACTOY) announced the full list of semifinalists for the 2022 edition of the awards this week. The Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing will compete in the Car of the Year category, obviously, where it will be compared with other successful passenger cars like the Audi A3, Genesis G70, Honda Civic, Mercedes-Benz EQS, Mercedes-Benz S-Class and VW Golf. The Lucid Air, a new battery-electric luxury sedan with an EPA-estimated range of 520 miles, will also vie for the award.
NACTOY semi-finalists are chosen by a jury of 50 journalists from print, online, radio and broadcast media across the U.S. and Canada. Jurors vote three times during the year to reduce the list of eligible vehicles down to semifinalists, finalists and, finally, winners. This year’s NACTOY award winners will be announced in January during an event hosted by the Detroit Auto Dealers Association in Detroit. The award winners were previously announced during the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, however the event is still on hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing is an ultra-high-performance take on the luxury sedan powered by GM’s 6.2L LT4 V8 engine. The supercharged V8 produces 668 horsepower and 659 pound-feet of torque and sends power to the rear wheels through the standard six-speed manual or the optional GM 10-speed automatic. The CT5-V Blackwing is the only performance sedan included in this year’s NACTOY semi-finalists and the powerful V8 four-door will likely face stiff competition from the two EVs included on the list: the Mercedes-Benz EQS and Lucid Air.
The winners of the 2022 North American Car of the Year awards will be announced in January 2022.

Everybody’s raving about the black wing I just want to know when I’m gonna get my CT5 360 horse 405 pounds of torque this is been a long time coming I’m going to start losing interest on this.
How long ago did you ordered it thru the dealer? I’ll check with the dealer and if they can’t help you, contact Cadillac customer support.
IMO, the CT5-V is a sweet spot if you don’t care to have too much car for daily use with the Blackwing.
Anyway, Cadillac is still shipping ’21 4 & 5 models to dealers due to micro-chip shortage. Crazy times we are living in.
Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing that’s all Cadillac says. Who what’s a gast car. I am trying to see what a 2022 Ct5 will have.
