C8 Corvette On Point With Vossen HF-3 Wheels

The C8 Corvette is offered with several different wheel options from the factory, but for those customers that need something a little more custom, the aftermarket is practically overflowing with alternatives. For example, Vossen has quite a few designs on offer that would do well to complement the mid-engine Chevy Corvette’s sharp exterior styling – the HF-3 wheels being one good example.

This particular C8 Corvette Coupe is outfitted with a host of factory upgrades, starting with the color. Dubbed Rapid Blue, the paint is offered as a $500 extra, and definitely does well to grab the ‘ole eyeballs. Meanwhile, the rear of this mid-engine Chevy Corvette is outfitted with the High Wing Spoiler, painted in Carbon Flash Metallic. The black accents continue in the front end with the front splitter, while the brake calipers offset the blue with a red finish.

Which brings us to the wheels. These particular rollers are Vossen’s HF-3 units from the company’s Hybrid Forged series. The sizing is staggered at 20 inches in front and 21 inches in the rear, while the thin multi-spoke design is finished in Tinted Gloss Black. Other finishes offered include Gloss Graphite Polished, Gloss Black, Satin Black, Anthracite, Satin Silver, and Satin Bronze.

Pricing for the Voss HF-3 wheel starts at $599. Diameter sizing ranges between 19 inches and 24 inches, while wheel width sizing ranges between 8.5 inches and 12 inches.

As a reminder, the C8 Corvette is equipped with the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 LT2 gasoline engine, which is rated at 495 horsepower at 6,450 rpm and 470 pound-feet of torque at 5,150 rpm when equipped with the optional factory performance exhaust system. Output is routed to the rear wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Production of the C8 Corvette takes place at the GM Bowling Green assembly facility in Kentucky.

I have to agree with “JRF”….Corvette’s used to to have the most amazing wheel design, starting with the infamous C2 “knock off” wheel design, the amazing “Rally Wheels” of course are Iconic, and those optional wheels through the C3 age were great looking in their day. So along comes the C4 and wheel design sort of stagnates, but there are variances that did hit a high spot like the Z06 wheels on the last year of the C4. Along comes the C5 and the initial wheels were beginning to not be of a great looking design (my opinion) then around mid year of the C5 ‘s generation the wheels improved and with the Z06, things started to look pretty decent! Same goes for the C6 generation, nothing impressive until the Z06 iteration started to come on line, then things really improved but outside wheel manufactures were getting into the act and boy did that ever improve the base C6 Corvette’s looks!
    The C7 Corvette came along and things went back to basics again…but then the Z06 and ZR-1 managed to get everyone’s attention again, but outside wheels were gaining in popularity again, the choices were amazing!
    So here comes the amazing C8…with (to me) the most disgusting stock wheel looks of almost any generation of Corvette since the C-1 with “hubcaps”! Since it’s inception, the C8 wheels are the most pathetic excuse for stock wheel combo, to me none of them captured the pure essence of an amazing mid engine body style…yuck, someone dropped the ball here but thank goodness for those amazing (but notably more expensive) outside wheel manufactures as you’re showing here in this timely article. What an amazing difference…my gawd these are beautiful wheels, these and I’m sure many others have managed to capture the exciting body lines on the new C8 Corvette!
    I managed to change the wheel/tire combination on my 2001 C5 Coupe many years ago from “stock” to these beautiful TSW wheels and the difference in looks, ride and handling are truly amazing! ‘Nuff said…glad we have so many choices.

  3. There needs to be more info about Wheel Sizes and Tire Sizes. These wheels are larger and thus the tires are lower profile with less side wall. So does that effect ride quality, handling, and fuel mileage? These look nice but we need some answers to these questions. I don’t have a C8 yet but have one on order and believe there is a sweet spot on wheels as far as the sizes. These look good but what are you giving up by up sizing? Also are the lower profile tires available in run flat as the ones that come on the car as it doesn’t have a spare in the back? We need the wheel manufactures to step up and do some testing to let us know what are the best sizes for say touring, track, and everyday use, please so we can make an informed purchase and not be just guessing.

    1. One small hole and you will likely blow these tires and bend the rim.
      But if the car is a garage queen, it does look good.

      1. As someone who has run track-road courses for over 20 years now, there’s a sweet spot in terms of wheel/tire sizes and width. Multiple tests have demonstrated that bigger isn’t always better strictly speaking in terms of performance.

        1. Given Chevy’s intense engineering and testing with track performance in mind – I would suspect that what the car came with hits that sweet spot.
