Average Price Of Used Chevy Camaro Increased 31 Percent Year-Over-Year In August

The average transaction price of a used Chevy Camaro increased by more than 30 percent between August 2020 and August 2021.

According to data compiled by iSeeCars, the average transaction price of a second-hand Chevy Camaro in August of this year stood at $35,635 – an increase of $8,431 from August 2020, or 31 percent.

As we reported previously, the price of a used Chevy Camaro rose dramatically in the spring and summer amid increased demand and a shortage of new examples due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The popularity of sports cars has also risen in recent months as more consumers looked for ways to get out and enjoy themselves amid the COVID-19 pandemic, iSeeCars analyst Karl Brauer explained.

“These sports cars are aspirational cars for many consumers, and they surged in popularity during the pandemic as drivers sought fun cars to combat boredom,” Brauer said earlier this year. “Sports cars aren’t practical purchases, so drivers are likely more willing to pay a premium for them, especially because they aren’t as common in the used car marketplace.”

The GM Lansing Grand River Assembly plant has been closed for much of this year, with Chevy Camaro production only coming online periodically throughout 2021. Production of the 2022 Chevy Camaro began at the plant the week of August 17th, however, so more new models should now be arriving at dealers – hopefully relieving the current supply squeeze.

“New versions of the Camaro were in short supply at dealerships as a result of microchip-related shutdowns, which further increased demand for used versions,” Brauer added.

The 2022 Chevy Camaro introduces minor changes to the nameplate, including a new Rapid Blue exterior paint color pulled from the C8 Corvette Stingray. Prices for the 2022 Chevy Camaro Coupe start at $26,195 including destination and freight charges, while the Convertible model is priced from $32,695 with DFC.

  1. A Chevy wants to drop this car, another stupid GM decision, buy foreign your probably better off, they will more likely be around longer.

    1. How is it stupid when they don’t sell? Sounds more like you are the one that is stupid.

    1. Read the article, GM is selling every Camaro they build, and buyers are waiting for more. If they marketed this car aggressively, sales would be higher, but all they want to crank out anymore is SUVs and pickups. Cars will be extinct from this company in 5 years, because they have decided to delete them in favor of those boring vehicles.
The days of exciting and creative auto design are sadly over. Lots to choose from if you like lookalike hatchbacks with little wipers on the back window, or huge honking pickups you need a ladder to wash — not for me.

  3. I probably could sell my camaro for almost what I bought it for just over 3 years ago. But I like it. Since I bought it theres things like a ct6 v blackwing with awd. Ct5 v blackwing both more practical. I’d like to do what GM probably wants me to do and get another car that’s more relaxed then the Camaro. A Buick sedan with cushy ride would be nice so I can have one extreme to another. Oh that’s right they don’t make Buick sedans no more. Wish they still made the lacrosse or how about a road master build on the omega platform
