All-New Buick Verano Pro Officially Launches In China

Over the past five months, General Motors has progressively unveiled the all-new Buick Verano Pro sedan, which is the latest addition to the American brand’s portfolio of sedans in China, its largest market by volume. Following its world premiere, its interior design reveal as well as GS variant and powertrain details announcements, the automaker has just officially launched the vehicle in the Asian country.

The all-new Buick Verano Pro was launched last weekend as Buick‘s new premium compact sedan offering in China. GM claims that the third-generation Verano is specifically designed to meet the needs and lifestyles of Gen Z with expressive style, dynamic performance and cutting-edge technology to appeal to young, trend-setting customers.

The new Buick Verano Pro introduces the latest evolution of Buick’s “sculptural beauty” design language, and it’s the first vehicle to be offered with the new turbocharged 1.5L LAH I-4 engine from the eighth generation of the Ecotec engine family. GM innovates in the Verano’s segment by adopting dual 10.25-inch displays, the eConnect 3.0 connectivity system and the most advanced safety technologies in its class.

In China, interested customers will be able to choose the all-new Buick Verano Pro in one of four trim levels and five distinctive variants, including two of the new range-topping GS trim. In fact, the new Verano Pro GS increases the relevance and exclusivity of Buick’s sporty nomenclature by including greater design differences from the standard model to appeal to those seeking a more personalized appearance.

Mechanically, the Buick Verano Pro is powered by the aforementioned 1.5L engine that generates 181 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque for all versions available at launch. This engine is mated to a next-generation continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT), allowing the sedan to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just seven seconds and achieve a combined consumption of 5.95 L/100 km or 39.5 mpg.

The all-new Buick Verano Pro sedan is now available throughout the brand’s extensive dealer network in China, where it is one of the most advanced compact sedans on the market thanks to its connectivity and active safety technologies. Highlights include the latest Automatic Parking Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Assist, High Beam Assist and Pedestrian Detection.

The suggested prices of the five versions of the all-new Buick Verano Pro in the Chinese market are as follows:

  • Verano Pro Music Edition: 129,900 CNY (about $20,130 USD at the current exchange rate)

Wow – very nice both outside and inside. It’s a shame they can’t put this engine in the Chevy Trailblazer and Buick Encore GX.

Mated to a 9spd it would be a very competitive vehicle in the segment. Mated to a CVT… Hard pass.

Betting this comes back to our shores. Feel it’ll be similar to the Envision though where it’s built there and sent here. It’s too good not to have here.

I hope they bring the regal and lacrosse back too. Have you seen the new ones that GM has produced over there? They look fantastic inside and out!

Amazing looking car! It’s sad to see GM (Buick) give up on the American market when it comes to sedans. If only they could have brought this design language here, things could have been different. I hope they bring back their sedan lineup someday.

If anything it would compete with its previous competitors when it was sold in the US (Acura ILX, Mercedes CLA, Audi A3)

Very nice. It would have made a fine entry level car for America.

Really trying to depress us sedan and coupe owners by bragging about the wide variety of models available in China and no choice for North America?

Bring back the sedans for Americans! Customers here prefer the ride and handling of a sedan.
