90 Percent Of 2021 Corvette Units Were Delivered To U.S. Customers

The Chevy Corvette is often referred to as “America’s sports car,” so it should be no surprise that almost 90 percent of the 2021 Corvette models produced this year remained right here in the United States.

A total of 23,573 examples of the 2021 Corvette were sold in the United States this year, representing 89.93 percent of the entire 26,212 unit production run. Of those U.S.-sold vehicles, 13,624 were coupes and 9,949 were convertibles. Additionally, 1,274 opted for the available National Corvette Museum delivery option (RPO code R8C), which allows American customers to pick up their vehicle at the NCM in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

2021 Corvette Sales By Country
Coupe (units) Convertible (units) Total (units) Coupe (percentage) Convertible (percentage) Total (percentage)
United States 13,624 9,949 23,573 90.2 89.6 89.9
Canada 988 899 1,887 6.5 8.1 7.2
Japan 222 139 361 1.5 1.3 1.4
Middle East 177 69 246 1.2 0.6 0.9
Mexico 101 48 149 0.7 0.4 0.6

The next most popular market for the 2021 Corvette was Canada, where Chevy delivered 1,887 cars total, split between 988 coupes and 899 convertibles. The Middle East was third with 246 cars (177 coupes, 69 convertibles) followed by Japan with 361 cars (177 coupes, 69 convertibles) and Mexico with 149 cars (101 coupes, 48 convertibles).

GM delivered 20,368 examples of the 2020 Corvette last year, with 18,577 of those (or 91.2 percent) remaining in the U.S. The remaining cars were split between Canada (1,490 units), the Middle East (162 units) and Mexico (139 units).

For 2022, the C8 Corvette Stingray will enter two new left-hand-drive markets: Australia and New Zealand. It will be interesting to see what the demand for the mid-engine sports car is like in these countries, as General Motors had historically been quite successful in the region with its now-defunct Holden brand and the related Holden Special Vehicles performance sub-brand. The Corvette will be distributed through the newly established network of General Motors Special Vehicles dealers in both countries.

One of the most popular available options for the 2021 Corvette Stingray was the High Performance Exhaust, with 87 percent of buyers choosing it. Torch Red remained the most popular exterior color, while the five-spoke Silver wheel option (RPO R8Q) was the most popular wheel choice.

Production of the 2022 Corvette Stingray began at the GM Bowling Green Assembly plant on September 6th, 2021.

  1. USA! USA! USA!

Can’t wait to see the new Z06! And *hopefully* we get to see 3 cool British gentlemen showing us a fun time with it.

  3. So, how is Middle East third with 246 deliveries when Japan had 361 deliveries or is it just a typo?

  6. scott, why are you even wasting your time reading a GM post regarding vette sales… u should be driving ur 13 year old mercedes or ur 5 year old porsche if they’re working… as a former and current owner of several Euro small engine turbo twinning cars, i know that reliability and maintanence can be a costly challenge…especially since yours are pretty old and out of warranty…. i’m enjoying my C8 ty😊😊

    1. You’re right why Am I? Don’t really know. My cars might be a little older but at least they’ll hold their value! Not to mention not every a-hole in town has one. You know if you were blind-folded and some one sat in you in a corvette you know how you’d know it was a corvette? From the smell of Old spice and Bengay. Enjoy your GM junk!

  7. Scott, I own a 2019 Porsche GT2RS, a 2021 Rolls Royce Dawn, 69 Corvette 427, 2020 718 Porsche Boxster, 2012 Land Rover Defender and a 2020 Range River Autobiography SVR – and I have two C8’s on order. A Corvette is like a Harley Davidson – you just have to have one. If you think too much about it, you don’t get it! I know they don’t compare on a high level and they are crudely assembled but they are culture.

    1. Congradulation’s on your collection, and you are right it is like a Harley Davidson-junk. I do get it, from my orginal statement in this thread. Americans like junk, all it has to do is make you feel good. Like in High School I had a 77 Trans Am made me feel good but it was junk!
