The 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV expands the available body styles for the all-electric off-roader, offering the same battery-driven specs as the Hummer EV pickup model, but with a shorter wheelbase and enclosed cargo area in the rear. Now, GM Authority is taking a closer look at the new 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV with this Live Photo Gallery captured on the floor of the 2021 Motor Bella auto show.
This particular 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV is the range-topping Edition 1, which debuts an exclusive new exterior color, namely Moonshot Green Matte. In total, the new Hummer SUV is offered in eight different exterior colors. The 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV Edition 1 also introduces the Lunar Shadow interior theme.
Up top, the Hummer EV SUV is equipped as standard with an Infinity Roof for an in-the-elements driving experience on demand. Also note the trio of amber lights on top of the windshield. The front end features the familiar GMC Hummer EV fascia, with a narrow lighting treatment and wide stance, plus H-shaped lower fascia treatment.
The profile of the Hummer EV SUV is similar to that of the pickup, but with an extended roofline the covers the rear cargo area. Notably, the 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV’s wheelbase is 9 inches shorter than that of the GMC Hummer EV Pickup, measuring in at 126.7 inches, as compared to the Pickup’s 135.6-inch wheelbase. In the corners, the SUV is equipped with standard 22-inch wheels wrapped in 35-inch Goodyear all-terrain tires, while the available Extreme Off-Road Package adds in unique 18-inch wheels with 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires.
With regard to the rough stuff, the 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV boasts 13 inches of suspension travel, while track width is measured at 73.3 inches. Like the Pickup, the SUV comes with CrabWalk mode, which enables the vehicle to move laterally across the trail and more easily navigate tight trails.
The front and rear fascia are trimmed high for impressive approach and departure angles, rated at 49.6 degrees for the former, and 49 degrees for the latter (without the spare). Max break over angle is rated at 34.4 degrees. The 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV can also climb a 60-percent grade, either forward or in reverse, and it can ford water crossings up to 32 inches deep. A full-size spare is mounted to the rear hatch, while the taillight housings incorporate a familiar H-shape. The roof offsets the rest of the body with a black finish, as compared to the green body panels.
The GMC Hummer EV rides on the GM BT1 all-electric platform, which underpins both the SUV and the Pickup. Motivation is derived from GM’s Ultium Battery and Ultium Drive Technology, with this particular model (the Edition 1) equipped with the range-topping three-motor setup. Output is rated at 830 horsepower and 11,500 pound-feet of torque. Production will take place at the GM Factory Zero plant (previously known as the GM Detroit-Hamtramck plant) in Michigan, with the first units expected to ship later next year.
