The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq Debut Edition sold out in just over 10 minutes after General Motors opened reservations Saturday afternoon.
GM charged customers $100 to reserve a 2023 Cadillac Lyriq Debut Edition, although the pre-order is non-binding and fully refundable. It’s unknown how many 2023 Cadillac Lyriq Debut Edition models the automaker will build.
In a statement, Cadillac vice president Rory Harvey said the automaker has had hundreds of thousands of people register interest in the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq since it first debuted late last year.
“Today, reservations for the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq Debut Edition sold out in just over ten minutes and we continue to see a lot of enthusiasm around the brand – both current product and in our all-electric future,” Harvey said. “The initial response for Lyriq has been extraordinary. Since the show car unveiling last year, more than 200,000 people have expressed interest in learning more about the vehicle and our electric future.”
The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq Debut Edition will come standard with an Ultium 100.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack and an Ultium Drive single electric motor mounted on the rear axle, which is good for an estimated 340 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque. This 340-horsepower version of the Cadillac Lyriq will wear a 450E badge, as per Cadillac’s torque-based naming convention it first introduced back in 2019. The mid-size CUV rides on the GM BEV3 platform and tips the scales at a significant 5,610 pounds.
Other standard equipment includes a glass panoramic moonroof, an AKG Studio 19-speaker audio system, active noise cancellation, eight-way power-adjustable driver and passenger seats with massage function, a heated steering wheel, a 33-inch digital display/driver information cluster and Super Cruise. As we reported previously, only two wheel types and two exterior colors – Satin Steel Metallic and Stellar Black Metallic – will be offered on the vehicle from launch.

“The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq Debut Edition sold out in just over 10 minutes after General Motors opened reservations Saturday afternoon.”. Wow, those buyers were lucky to get for only $100 a brand new 2023 Cadillac !!
Watch your wording because a reservation is not a sale. Don’t commit the same literal mistake that Tesla did. And those Tesla “buyers” paid $1000 each.
Cadillac might have a hit on its hands it’s a real nice looking vehicle, it’s alittle over weight at 5600 lbs and only 2 colors
2 colors is just the launch edition, later they will offer AWD, and a full section of colors.
Nope if ev is the future the laughable “big 3” won’t make it. The players in the ev market won’t be them.
Lol he says this after Tesla just delayed their Cybertruck launch, meaning GM will beat them to the market with their Hummer EV. But hey, they got the “plaid” edition model S, because everybody wants that as their daily driver right? Two of the big three (Ford and GM) have already announced an electric successor to America’s highest selling vehicle, the standard pickup truck. Not everybody lives in California and wants an obscure looking “cyber” truck that looks like it came from outer space. Rivian is the only one close, and their not even on the map yet.
gm is on fire with these hot releases lately
I see what you did there.
Do you really believe (that even if) the market goes into full EV mode, that Tesla and other current EV upstarts (like Rivian) will be the only major players, while today’s big three (Ford, GM, Stellantis USA) will go away?
You live in a fantasy world.
Yup I think so to. There are to many others that will come with way better tech and features. You wanna hold on to hope that these crap companies will be around forever I’m sorry to tell you but gm should not be here now but the president signed an executive order to save them with bail out money even though the senate said no. Would you like me to go further or can you understand that?
Then why are you on a gm enthusiast site?
To hear you complain
425lbfts? I thought it was 325lbft?
You are correct sir.
Tailight on the side rear is not appealing and distracting.
Burn baby, burn!
Um. They “sold out” reservations in 10 minutes. But nobody knows how many reservations they sold…
Yeah, I was wondering that myself. Anybody got the answer?
No front trunk?
@Todd
Yeah that is the one thing that looks like is a mistake on the Lyriq.
Sandy Munroe says that Legacy Automakers are using too many parts bin stuff and are not designing for Frunks (Except Ford with the Mach-E) I use my Frunk all the time and I do not think I would want an EV without one.
With how long the Hood is on the Lyriq it is inexcusable not to have a Frunk. But if that is all we can complain about the Lyriq then Cadillac hit a Home run.
Get a saws-all, make your own.
@Shockandawe
HAHA
But what if you aren’t good with Tools? Lol
Crazy aunt drives it like a lunatic across the country.
I don’t think I can ever get used to the idea of pre-ordering a car I never saw in person or drove at a dealership. There are so many little things you notice in a test drive that online research does not cover.
There are many who are still waiting for their early ordered C8’s.
Beautiful design…….one battery fire away from an epic fail. gm better get it right.
gm better get it right. That is the big maybe, As always GM missmanagment is the weak link……..
Over 200,000 interested you can count me in receiving all the updates. but I heard the reservation number is 1500. Some big deal.
When the solid state battery comes out and increases the range to 900 miles that is when this car will take off. Right now it is for moms who like to go shopping or just drive short distances . Taking long road trips is not possible.
Shameless QS plug…to the moon.!
You don’t really know what you are talking about. Even the range on a Chevy Bolt is just fine for cross country driving. I’ve done it, several times, across thousands of miles. It’s by far the most enjoyable experience of road tripping I’ve ever had the pleasure to experience. You don’t need “900 miles” to enjoy the best mode of transportation available today. What car even has 900 miles of gas in the tank? Nice try. Many cars are in the 300s range. And with charging infrastructure as good as it already is, just getting better, it’s really not an issue. Go rent one and give it a go instead of being an armchair negative Nancy without experience.
Love our Tesla and range is not an issue. However we would not be in the market for any gm EV until they have several years of proven safe EV batteries under their belt. We will be purchasing a 2022 Tesla.
The issue is already taken care of. It was a robot at a subcontracted LG facility. Batteries across all types of products were affected, from cars across many brands to batteries in data centers and more. It’s not a GM issue, they just have to suffer a hit over it. They already proved their batteries are some of the best in the business through the Chevy Volt. The Ultium platform is a solid return to battery superiority. Honda and Acura are using the Ultium platform in their upcoming products. Nothing to worry about.
For sure range is not an issue if its comparable to a ICE vehicle. Charge time is the issue now supercharges can do 20min so that is acceptable. Dry cells would allow even faster charge times. Not sure if anyone got the pun.. Quantum space is dry cell company stock is on tear this week.
I tried for 6 minutes to get my local dealership to come up. When it finally did it said. Sorry no more left. GM spent millions advertising this car and in six minutes it’s gone. GM can kiss my Ass. I’m now looking at Kia. At least they were honest and said 1500 vehicles available.
Or they could go the Tesla route, let everyone and their dog register, and get their name in the hat for a vehicle they won’t see for 2 – 4 years at best. At least in this case, they set the number low (for just a launch edition) for th amount they should actually be able to produce.
Mark, I work at a group that owns a Cadillac dealer, and both me and my Cadillac sales manager experienced the same issue. We tried everything to get our store’s name to come up, but it would not. One of my friends did manage to get in, so it must’ve been random. Best thing to do is probably to call your local Cadillac store and have them put you on their internal list if they have one. According to Cadillac we should be able to order ourselves them starting next summer. At most you missed a couple months.
Now I am looking at a KIA come on man…
I still don’t understand the concept of everything having bucket type seats and all that console crap.
There’s be a lot more storage with in-deck/armrest and between seat storage. I just REALLY don’t need cup holders 24/7…and that space is then too small for much else.
Now me I’m waiting to see the car In-Person – and I also would like more color selections…. 2wd RWD is just fine even though I’m in a Snow Bound area….. I think the price has also been reduced a bit to the mid $58,000’s.
Where do you find all the charging stations…and then how long does it take to get charged up again?
If history is any indication orders mean very little. Cadillac has a poor history selling electric vehicles. I predict GM will sell just under 10,000 a year.
