The 2022 Chevy Tahoe and 2022 Chevy Suburban have officially launched, marking the second model year of the all-new fifth-generation Tahoe and all-new twelfth-generation Suburban.
Under the hood, the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine is now available on RST, Z71, and Premier trim levels. Previously, the L87 was reserved only for High Country trim levels. Output is rated at 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, while highlights include a dual exhaust and Dynamic Fuel Management.
With regard to suspension, 2022 Chevy Tahoe and Suburban RST trim levels ordered with the 6.2L V8 add in Magnetic Ride Control. Magnetic Ride Control is also standard on Premier and High Country trims, and available on Z71 trim levels.
Additional engine options include the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84, rated at 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque, as well as the 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax, rated at 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. The standard transmission for all three engines is the GM Hydra-Matic 10L80 10-speed automatic.
Further down the drivetrain, the 2022 Chevy Tahoe and Suburban Z71 trim is now offered with an available electronic limited-slip differential as part of the Off-Road Capability Package (RPO code Z6E). The Off-Road Capability Package also includes Magnetic Ride Control and Air Ride Adaptive suspension, and requires the Max Trailering Package and Luxury Package. The package is included with the Z71 Off-Road Package.
Inside the cabin, the 2022 Chevy Tahoe and 2022 Chevy Suburban feature a larger 12.3-inch diagonal configurable digital instrument cluster, which is equipped as standard on LT trims and above. Infotainment specs also include Google Assistant functionality, which enables adjustments to the HVAC, media controls, and more via voice control.
Additional standard active safety tech features also join the roster, including Buckle To Drive.
The 2022 Chevy Tahoe and Suburban also offer 13 available, unique camera views, including transparent trailer view, rear trailer view, picture-in-picture side view, and view inside the trailer. In terms of the exterior, the SUVs now offer five new wheel designs and three new colors. The new Sport Performance Package and Off-Road Performance Package are also on deck.

I’m not sure if the photos under the caption 2022 Suburban are 21 or 22?? When I click on the photos it says 2021 suburban. Do you have 22 photos yet?

Who the hell is Matt?
Drove a Suburban Premier this afternoon in Issaquah, WA. There was a nice up hill winding road just outside the dealership. The Suburban performed exceptionally well and was easy to see over the hood, no blind spots from a big hood. The 5.3 L V8 did not lack in power at all and was easy to accelerate going up that steep, winding hill side. No since of lacking power. For an SUV of this size it felt very nimble, powerful and very easy to navigate around those switchback, hairpin corners one after another. Coming back down was every bit as impressive for such a large, heavy SUV.
After that I got it out on the express way and drove it like I stolled it. Jumped right in to 75 mph traffic with absolute ease. When I came up to the stop at the off ramp I through on the breaks and that big heavy rig stopped easily and quickly; impressive!
As for the interior, nice soft leather interior feels and looks rich. The black leather seems as if it has a slight tint of brown in it that gives it that nice, luxurious, warm color; not a cold, hard black.
This is certainly not a vehicle I’d use as say a landscaping work truck. The Chevy Suburban Premier is quite the nice looking, gentleman’s Sport Utility Vehicle with class. Just needed a place to share my experience from my test drive today. Hope you found it worth while.
I don’t care at all for the “slit” head lights. I hope GMC stays away from them.
Do we think GM will add the center console shifter to the Tahoe/Suburban/Yukon in 2023 similar to the updated 2022 Silverado?
