2022 Chevy Colorado Configurator Now Live

The 2022 Chevy Colorado arrives as the eighth model year of the second-generation vehicle, introducing only a small number of changes and updates over the preceding 2021 model year. Now, fans and interested customers can spec the mid-sized pickup to taste using the official online configurator.

The 2022 Chevy Colorado follows a light update for the pickup ushered in for the 2021 model year. While the update was as close to a mid-cycle refresh as it gets, it did not meet the criteria for a full mid-cycle refresh.

Updates for the 2022 model year include the deletion of three LPO-level packages, including the Premium Protection Package, the Premium Interior Package, and the Interior Illumination Package. What’s more, the 2022 Chevy Colorado introduces the new Trail Boss package, which includes the following content:

  • 17-inch High gloss Black wheels
  • Red recovery hooks
  • Black tailgate lettering
  • Black Colorado emblems
  • Front 1-inch leveling kit
  • Front and mid skid plates
  • Black Bowtie emblem package (when equipped on LT trim levels)

As for the powertrain spec, the 2022 Chevy Colorado is available with three engine options. These include the naturally aspirated 2.5L I4 LCV gasoline engine, rated at 200 horsepower at 6,300 rpm and 191 pound-feet of torque at 4,400 rpm, the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LGZ gasoline engine, rated at 306 horsepower at 6,800 rpm and 275 pound-feet of torque at 4,000 rpm, and the 2.8L I4 LWN turbodiesel Duramax, rated at 181 horsepower at 3,400 rpm and 369 pound-feet of torque at 2,000 rpm. Transmission options include either a six-speed automatic, or an eight-speed automatic.

Unfortunately, available supplies of the Chevy Colorado are at critically low levels, with the ongoing global microchip shortage causing massive disruptions in the supply chain. Earlier this month, General Motors announced extended stoppages at the GM Wentzville assembly facility in Missouri, affecting production of the Chevy Colorado pickup, as well as the GMC Canyon pickup, and Chevy Express and GMC Savana vans.

      3. Wow here you are again insulting and jumping on someone else for having an opinion you don’t approve of. You should really think about changing your name to Shane aka the gatekeeper. You are very toxic constantly putting people down because there opinion differs from yours. God I hope you aren’t married and if you are I feel really sorry for your wife I bet you scream at her if she doesn’t agree with everything you say.

  3. Hopefully they have fixed the numerous problems that plague the previous models.
My 2019 colorado 4×4 has been a nightmare of one problem after another.
I’m pretty confident that I’ve bought my last GM/Chevrolet.

  5. I saw a ford maverick for the first time today riding down the road it was a yellow color but man that thing is hideous. I would take a Colorado or canyon any day over the maverick. In a weird way it reminded me of the boxy Scion xb it was so oddly shaped. I know some people will like it and that’s good for them but I think it looks terrible.

    1. I was not impressed either. I expect the initial sales will spike and then settle back to half what the Ranger is. Being based on a cheap CUV will make it profitable even at the lower numbers.

      1. Did it remind you of the boxy Scion xB also? To be honest I don’t know why anyone would buy the maverick over the ranger either.

          Lower step-in height?
Smaller size that suits their needs?

          1. And can’t haul anything don’t forget that part. So basically what you are saying is it’s an suv but they made it into a “truck” for the tools that wanna be seen “driving a truck”

      2. Ford has a history of this. Years ago, they took a cheap and not very good sedan and threw a different body on it. The difference is: the sales peaked, then peaked again, and again. Even reducing its size and gutting the performance couldn’t kill it, nor making it as big as an ocean liner at one point.

You may remember the car. It was called the Mustang.

  6. The V6 engine is rated at 308 hp rather than 306 hp as stated in the article. No big deal though 🍺

  7. I have a 2016 Colorado with the 2.8 Duramax. Love it. 178k miles and still sounds and runs great. Aside from the minor fascia changes the 2022 still looks like my 2016 on the inside. I think I’ll wait and see what the 2023 will look like.
As for the “looks like a Tacoma” remark, no way in @#$& does it look like a Tacoma. That guy does need glasses.
