2022 Cadillac CT5 Loses These Three Paint Colors

The 2022 Cadillac CT5 will do away with three paint colors that were previously offered on the luxury sedan.

Cadillac CT5 in Evergreen Metallic

The following three colors will be dropped from the Cadillac CT5 order book for the 2022 model year:

  • Velocity Red (RPO G7V)
  • Evergreen Metallic (RPO GJ0)
  • Dark Blue Moon Metallic (RPO GLU)

Cadillac CT5 in Velocity Red

These three colors were only available on certain CT5 trim levels. Velocity Red was available on the CT5 Sport and CT5-V only, while Dark Blue Moon Metallic could only be ordered with the Luxury and Premium Luxury trim levels. Evergreen Metallic was offered on all 2021 Cadillac CT5 trim levels.

CT5-V Blackwing in Electric Blue

Just as with the smaller Cadillac CT4, General Motors will indirectly replace these three departing exterior colors with three new ones on the 2022 Cadillac CT5. These will include the following:

  • Blaze Orange Metallic (RPO GCF)
  • Electric Blue (RPO GMO)
  • Dark Emerald Frost (RPO G7W)

Blaze Orange Metallic will be available on the CT5 Sport, CT5-V and CT5-V Blackwing only. Meanwhile, Electric Blue will only be available on the CT5-V and CT5-V Blackwing. Dark Emerald Frost, exclusive to the CT5-V Blackwing, will also have late availability and will only be offered for a limited time on a number of vehicles.

The 2022 Cadillac CT5 represents the third model year for the mid-size sedan and will offer a number of changes and updates – namely the introduction of the ultra-performance 2022  CT5-V Blackwing model. The CT5-V Blackwing is powered by a supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4 engine, which produces 668 horsepower and 659 pound-feet of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through standard six-speed manual transmission, while a GM 10-speed automatic is available as an option.

Standard Cadillac CT5 models will continue with the turbocharged 2.0L LSY gasoline engine, which makes 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The turbocharged 3.0L LGY V6 will also continue to be offered, producing 335 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. The performance CT5-V model will continue to feature a more powerful version of the V6, which is good for 360 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque.

  1. Why get rid of one of the only shades of Green they have? There is more to life than Black, White and various shades of Grey.

    1. All based on sales. Customers decide.

      1. Customers do not necessarily make the decision. Few customers select their color and other options by ordering what they want on a car. The dealership orders vehicles the way they think buyers MIGHT want them equipped. The customer can only choose from the vehicles on the dealer’s lot. If the dealer has 3 grays and 2 whites in stock, the customer buys a gray one – but that doesn’t mean that is the color he wanted.

        1. I understand, there are still a handful of folks like me out there who spec out a vehicle and order it. I am willing to wait to get what I want. I am always amazed at the wide color palette offered by a lot of other manufacturers vs the very limited on on GM vehicles.

    2. You are “Right On”. No one wants White, Silver, Gray and this year you can add Orange and Electric Blue to the list. They buy White because that’s what’s on the lot. The dealer closest to me orders just White and Black, and an occasional other color and he orders all the interiors “other than Black”. Good night, these are Cadillacs, they have to have black interior. Nobody that has two eyes wants Whisper Beige!
