The 2022 Cadillac CT5 represents the third model year of the luxury brand’s recently introduced sedan. The 2022 model year benefits from several changes, such as the addition of many standard active safety features over the outgoing 2021 model.
The entry-level Luxury trim now features Following Distance Indicator, Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Rear Park Assist as standard. All features were previously part of the Driver Awareness Plus Package, which was optional on the Premium Luxury, Sport and CT5-V models, and not available on the base Luxury trim for the 2020 or 2021 model years.

The 2022 Cadillac CT5 Premium Luxury and Sport trims, meanwhile, get upgraded with standard Adaptive Cruise Control, Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking and Reverse Automatic Braking, features that were previously available by choosing the Driver Assist Package, as well as Front and Rear Park Assist and IntelliBeam high beam assist. In addition, all of these aforementioned features are now standard on the CT5-V.
GM’s Super Cruise continues to be optional on the Premium Luxury and CT5-V trims, but it’s now available on the CT5 Sport for the 2022 model year. The semi-autonomous driver assistant bundles the HD Surround View Camera system, which can also be obtained via the optional Platinum Package or the Parking Package. The latter includes the Rear Camera Mirror, Rear Pedestrian Alert, the Surround Vision Recorder and Automatic Park Assist with braking, as was the case for the 2021 model year.
Introduced for the 2022 model year, the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing’s selection of standard active safety features nearly matches that of the CT5-V, although the “enhanced” Automatic Braking System, Reverse Automatic Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control and Automatic Parking Assist with Braking aren’t available in conjunction with the Blackwing’s standard six-speed manual transmission.
Another key feature missing altogether from the CT5-V Blackwing is Super Cruise, as GM figures customers probably won’t want it anyway. “Our focus with these V-Series Blackwing cars was to create a driver’s car,” Mirza Grebovic, Cadillac Performance Variant Manager, explained in an interview with GM Authority executive editor Alex Luft. “Super Cruise is offered on the luxury-oriented models.”
The 2022 Cadillac CT5 Luxury, Premium Luxury, Sport models are powered by the turbocharged 2.0L LSY I4 gasoline engine as standard. The boosted four produces 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The Premium Luxury trim is optionally available with the twin-turbocharged 3.0L LGY V6 gasoline engine which produces 335 horsepower and 405 pound-feet of torque. The 2022 CT5-V comes with a specially tuned version of the same twin-turbocharged 3.0L LGY V6 gasoline engine making 360 horsepower and same 405 pound-feet of torque. All these models come standard with GM’s 10-speed automatic transmission and are available in either rear-wheel or all-wheel drive.
The 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing super sedan is powered by the supercharged 6.2L LT4 V8 engine. It has been tuned specifically for the CT5-V Blackwing for near-instant throttle response, creating the most powerful version of the LT4 to date, as well as the most powerful Cadillac yet. It produces a whopping 668 horsepower and 659 pound-feet of torque, providing a 0-to-60 mph time of 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 200 mph. The CT5-V Blackwing comes standard with the Tremec 6-speed manual and optionally offers the 10-speed automatic. The performance-oriented sedan is only available with rear-wheel drive.
As GM Authority recently reported, production of the Cadillac CT5 sedan at the GM Lansing Grand River plant has been pushed back to September 27th as a result of the ongoing global semiconductor shortage.

Cool, but will production ever begin? If you want a GM vehicle, it better be a truck these days.
