2022 Cadillac CT5 Adds New Onyx Package

The 2022 Cadillac CT5 has received a new Onyx Package, which gives the luxury sedan a mean, blacked-out exterior appearance.

The Onyx Package for the 2022 Cadillac CT5 carries RPO code PDB and is an LPO-level, dealer-installed equipment group. The package will be available to order on the 2022 Cadillac CT5 in the Luxury Sport and Premium Luxury trim levels and will also be available to order on the 2022 CT5-V performance variant.

Equipment included in this new-for-2022 package is as follows:

  • 20-inch alloy wheels with Gloss Black finish (RPO SSJ)
  • Black mirror caps (RPO 5JS)
  • Black grille (RPO 5XR)
  • Gloss Black rear license plate applique (RPO RXX)
  • Gloss Black grille trim (Luxury and Premium Luxury trim levels only) (RPO E5K)
  • Monochrome Cadillac emblems (Luxury trim level only) (RPO SFZ)

The Onyx Package cannot be combined with the Exterior Accent Package (RPO PDU) that is already offered on the Cadillac CT5, as this package includes a different set of wheels, specifically the 20-inch alloy wheels with Polished/Dark Android Gloss finish. As an aside, the PDU Exterior Accent Package also includes a rear lip spoiler and is only available in the Crystal White Tricoat, Satin Steel Metallic, Black Raven, Shadow Metallic or Infrared Tintcoat exterior colors.

Pricing for the Onyx Package has not been announced by General Motors. We’ll likely have to wait until the online configurator tool for the standard 2022 Cadillac CT5 launches to learn how much the automaker plans to charge for this equipment package. The Summit White painted Cadillac CT5-V pictured in this article (above) features the same 20-inch Gloss Black finish alloy wheels included in the package, as well as a black grille and black mirror caps, hopefully giving readers a rough idea of what this package will change from an exterior styling standpoint.

GM applied a number of minor changes to the Cadillac CT5 for the 2022 model year, the biggest of which is the addition of three new exterior colors: Blaze Orange Metallic, Electric Blue and Dark Emerald Frost. These colors indirectly replace three departing colors, which include Velocity Red, Evergreen Metallic and Dark Blue Moon Metallic. The CT5-V Blackwing ultra-performance model was also added to the lineup for 2022, bringing with it a 668-horsepower supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4 gasoline engine and standard six-speed manual transmission.

Production of the 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing began at the GM Lansing Grand River plant in Michigan in July. Production of the standard 2022 CT5, meanwhile, will commence in October following a lengthy hiatus due to the global chip shortage.

The CT5 isn’t the only Cadillac vehicle to receive an Onyx Package in recent years. This black exterior styling package is also available to order on the 2021 Cadillac XT4, 2021 Cadillac XT5, 2021 Cadillac XT6 and 2021 Cadillac Escalade.
