The refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 will make its official debut next month.
The mid-cycle enhancement version of the full-size pickup will break cover at 4 p.m. EST on September 9th, sources familiar with the matter revealed to GM Authority.
The updated 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 will feature a revised front fascia with new headlamps, a redesigned tailgate and different taillights. Inside, the truck will receive an overhauled cabin with a new dash, center stack, and center console, a larger infotainment screen and a digital gauge cluster/driver information center. The traditional column gear shifter will also be dropped in favor of a new electronic gear select system.
Crucially, the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 will migrate to the new Global B electrical architecture, enabling over-the-air system updates and allowing GM to offer the latest technology features, such as its hands-free Super Cruise drive system. This updated model will introduce the new Silverado ZR2 model variant, as well, which will feature upgraded suspension, knobby tires and underbody skidplates for enhanced off-road performance.
While the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 will make its debut in early September, it won’t arrive for a little while longer. As we reported previously, the Chevy Silverado 1500 Limited will be the first 2022MY version of the truck to arrive, which is a continuation of the 2021MY Silverado with the same trim levels, options and exterior and interior colors.
Production of the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 Limited is set to begin at the GM Silao plant in Mexico on September 20th, 2021, and the GM Fort Wayne Assembly plant in Indiana on September 27th, 2021. Orders for the 2022 Chevy Silverado Limited opened July 15th.
More information on the refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 may come to light in the lead-up to its September reveal, so be sure to subscribe to GM Authority for more Chevrolet Silverado news, Chevrolet news, and around-the-clock General Motors news coverage.

Please don’t change a thing in the interior gm, it is so manly, I love the cheap plastic and all the rattles!
It’s nice that they give you guys internet time at the mental institution.
You have to admit though, he is consistent, and kind of funny!
Hehe he!
Anybody know when production would actually start on the new 2022s? Debating whether to wait to order one.
What factor would force you to not wait an extra month or two?
If you like the Shi$$y interior, by all means order now, otherwise wait for the new and hopefully improved interior.
Hopefully they don’t make a dolled up interior that is less durable than the current trucks and much less user friendly, we all know how those suburban dads like their interiors. Listen kid, can’t wait to see you drop off the face of planet troll on September 9th. Always sad when people who don’t own or can’t afford something have to slam it for no reason with zero actual experience other than what they read from a few disgruntled people on a forum…
All updates courtesy of the Ram. The thing I love about trucks is gm is willing to fight in that space. Ram clearly outclassed them so gm went back to the proverbial drawing board and started over. We’ll see how far they went. They’re willing to engage on trucks in a way they don’t do on cars. If they get outclassed there, as they often are, they simply quit and cede the market to others.
Bob Lutz said in his book that gm was really two companies and the truck group was more aggressive and focused an, in effect, more competitive than the car group. I’m paraphrasing as I don’t remember his exact words but it was striking to me that he saw two attitudes and really two companies at work. I think that’s obvious to consumers too.
So 4 a.m. EST….Am I the only one that thinks that is odd?
More then likely has to do with location?
Lol yes because they are debuting it in Australia…
It’s a typo. There’s only 4 continental US time zones and eastern is the earliest so that makes the least sense.
I guess my question would be why reveal it in AUS?
OMG
Of course, this assumes they have chips available.
Any word on panoramic roof?
Hopefully it’s in the garbage can. Don’t need no stinking panoramic roof on a TRUCK.
With Super Cruise and a fully digital cluster coming to the updated Silverado, I assume that the second model year of the new Suburban and Tahoe will have them as well since they will both share the Global B Electronic architecture?
I really hope the new redesign makes a better looking option in the 1500 regular cab long bed than just an ugly work truck!
The key market of RCLB is work truck. No way they’ll serve up an LTZ or HC. There’s really no other reason to get that config if you aren’t using it as a beater.
I just want a nice truck, LT would be great, Hate the ugly front end on the work truck!
My hope is that GM is leading instead of following.. just good enough…
Will the MSRP skyrocket with the refresh
I own a 2021 GMC Sierra Denali and I love my truck. It drives nicer than my buddies 2021 dodge ram Laramie.
No column shifter?! No no no. If I have to twist a dial or toggle some stupid buttons like the GMC suvs I’m gonna be a very pissed loyal GM truck buyer. The Colorado center shifter is bad enough.
Times change. They no longer offer 8 track players either.
Electronic gear shifter.
Problems waiting to happen.
Everyone hates on the Silverado. Car Reviews say it needs a 12″ touchscreen and double stitching, Yep. That is what makes a truck. Nothing to do with functionality or towing capacity. I’m sick of where new trucks have been going. Trucks are not trucks now a days, Sad thing is a new Duramax doesn’t get any better fuel economy while towing a load than what a duramax did 20 years ago. The new truck is more powerful, heavier and full of a bunch of stuff you wont need or use. Great direction.
Ok so where is it? 4am is long passed and crickets!!! LOL
I agree, its now 1130 am EST on September 9th and not a sole or picture to be seen on the new Silverado 2022/new version 🤔
In October 2000 I ordered a 2001 Silverado 1500 just the way I wanted it. Single cab, short bed v8 manual trans and and transfer case, manual windows. Actually back then had a choice of interior colors on base model. White exterior saddle tan interior 4×4. Still drive it to this day. Just a plain simple, but comfortable and functional truck. I don’t care for all the new electronic this, electronic that gadgetry. Just more s..t to go wrong. However, looks like I wont have a choice when I go to order a new one. Sure wish we could at least still get a manual tranny and trans case…
