GMC Hummer EV On Display At Woodward Dream Cruise This Weekend

The new GMC Hummer EV pickup will be on display throughout the 2021 Woodward Dream Cruise in downtown Detroit this weekend.

General Motors will have the GMC Hummer EV on display at the Nicky D’s Coney Island location at Woodward Avenue just south of 14 Mile on both August 20th and August 21st. There will also  be other “present and future Buick GMC vehicles on display,” alongside the new GMC Hummer EV, the automaker says, but it’s safe to say the hulking electric pickup will be the main attraction.

In addition, there will be a free t-shirt giveaway at the Nicky D’s Coney Island location for the first 5,000 guests, along with “prime public seating,” for watching all the action on Woodward Avenue. This activation is supported by the Metro Detroit Buick GMC Dealers group.

Back in June, a pre-production prototype for the new GMC Hummer EV was spotted cruising down Woodward Avenue by a sharp-eyed GM enthusiast. While the Dream Cruise was still quite far away when that sighting happened, Woodward Avenue is a great place to spot unique vehicles in the Metro Detroit area at any time of year. A group of GM engineers also brought the Hummer EV to a car meet on Woodward this week in preparation for its big public appearance this weekend.

For many GMC fans, this will be the best opportunity yet for them to get up close and personal with the GMC Hummer EV before customer deliveries of the First Edition trim level commence later this year. The battery-electric pickup will enter production at the GM Factory Zero plant in Michigan in the coming months.

Pricing for the 2022 GMC Hummer EV Edition 1 starts at $112,595. The First Edition models have already been sold out, although customers can still pre-order the lesser EV3X, EV2X and EV2 trim level models.

  1. I wonder if they will display the HummerEV show truck, or if it will be one of the recently build production models?

    1. Likely the show truck, so they can animate the lights and show the various Screens in the vehicle.
If it isn’t the show truck then I’d be happy to see that as well!

    1. Awesome, mark down the names (on the bumper sticker in the rear window), and license plate numbers on the HummerEV’s you see, so we can track how many have been built…

    1. Ya, they are building batches of them now, you can tell if they are early production models because they have a small green sticker in the back window, and usually a name on a bumper sticker in the back window. They name the captured fleet trucks. Gets some pics and video to post online.

  4. I’ll be at Motor Bella in September. I hopping to get to ride in one. I missed out on the first edition but I’m on the list for a fully optioned 3x pickup. Only one month away now!

    1. Awesome… I think they will also bring the Hummer EV to the Texas State Fair around the same time. Rides are not likely yet unless you are media.

  7. They got a couple of the trucks. They’ll let you get in them and have power to the dash. Not many people around when I was there. Pretty neat. No suv unfortunately. Not surprised though. One has the top off and stored in the front, the other has the top on. If you’re around the area, check it out.

      1. They had two preproduction cars there last night. Today it’s just the show car. However, they have several going up and down woodward.
