General Motors has started a Customer Satisfaction Problem to address an issue regarding the optional illuminated door sill plates on the 2021 model-year Cadillac XT4 luxury subcompact crossover.
The problem: the buyers of affected vehicles may have had a charge applied for the optional illuminated door sill plate accessory (RPO code 5KP) on the Cadillac XT4, despite the fact they did not order this accessory at the time of purchase. GM’s Customer Satisfaction Program notice indicates the illuminated door sill plates were actually not even available to order when the affected vehicles were bought.
The hazards: this problem is related to a cosmetic accessory option and thus poses no sort of safety risk to the vehicle owner. Customers will want to have this issue resolved, however, otherwise they will be out the full price of the accessory option ($395 USD).
The fix: dealers will provide customers with a reimbursement check in the amount of $395, which is the full amount that GM typically charges for this accessory.
Affected components: factory optional illuminated door sill plates.
Affected vehicles:
- 2021 Cadillac XT4
Number of affected vehicles: it’s not clear how many customers were accidentally charged for illuminated door sill plates when buying a Cadillac XT4.
Next steps: GM will notify owners of affected vehicles and instruct them to reach out to their dealer to receive a reimbursement check. Owners of affected vehicles with further questions or concerns can also reach out to Cadillac directly using the contact information included below. This Customer Satisfaction Program started in August 2021 and will remain in effect until August 31st, 2023.

Wow, with all the IT personnel they have hired you would think they would only produce vehicles as customers ordered!
They really have gone on a downhill slide after they fired EDS.
I have a 21 xt5 that is disappointing as far as road noise and quality of ride also. This is in addition to rattling front door panels.
I have a XT4 SPORT. Just a stainless steel logo’d sill plate. Love the ride, quietness & when I close the doors, a solid sound!!
Only complaint, even though spunky at take off it could use the 2.7 L TURBO. It looses steam getting towards the high end!!
Overall great car••••••
