General Motors has announced that it will be cutting jobs at the GM Toledo Transmission plant.
Per a recent report from The Detroit News, General Motors will lay off 16 permanent workers and 106 temporary workers from the Toledo facility. The layoffs will go into effect September 27th.
The GM Toledo Transmission plant supplies transmissions to 10 General Motors facilities throughout North America. Per the recent report from The Detroit News, the new layoffs arrive as General Motors aligns production with demand in regard to its six-speed rear-wheel drive transmission fo the automaker’s full-size truck models.
As a reminder, General Motors no longer offers the six-speed automatic transmission (MYC) for the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 and 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. In addition, both full-size pickups no longer offer the naturally aspirated 4.3L V8 LV3 gasoline engine and naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L82 gasoline engine. The naturally aspirated 4.3L V8 LV3 is rated at 285 horsepower at 5,300 rpm and 305 pound-feet of torque at 3,900 rpm, while the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L82 is rated at 355 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 383 pound-feet of torque at 4,100 rpm.
Meanwhile, a six-speed transmission is still available with the Chevy Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD in conjunction with the naturally aspirated 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine, which is rated at 401 horsepower at 5,200 rpm and 464 pound-feet of torque at 4,000 rpm. A six-speed automatic transmission is also offered with the Chevy Express and GMC Savana full-size vans.
In other General Motors production work news, GM is requiring that its U.S. salaried workforce disclose their vaccination status in order to maintain appropriate safety protocols. Additionally, General Motors and the United Auto Workers labor union have agreed to reinstate mandatory mask requirements inside GM’s U.S. facilities. The new guidelines arrive following updated guidance from the CDC as a new surge in COVID-19 cases spreads across the country.

I’m 98% sure requiring them to disclose their vaccination status is a HIPAA violation.
nope
I am 100 percent sure you are wrong, Mike.
I
@Mike Lockhart: HIPAA prevents your doctor and your health insurance from disclosing your medical information to anyone. You yourself are allowed to disclose any information about your own medical information, including your vaccination status. You can choose to disclose it or not.
True!
More Money in Mary’s pocket. Nothing new.
Just went to the truck builder site. The 4.3L V-6( not 8) and the 5.3L V-8 are both still there.
Those engines more than likely will be placed in the outgoing 2022 Sierra and Silverado Limited models before the actual Refresh Model production starts.
Just buy a Honda or Toyota
