The upcoming C8 Corvette Z06 has once again been spotted lapping the infamous Nurburgring race track in Germany, giving us yet more delicious footage of the upcoming go-faster model unleashing mid-engine awesomeness.
The C8 Corvette Z06 was previously spotted lapping the ‘Ring alongside several other fierce performance machines, such as the Porsche 911 GT3, McLaren 765LT, and Aston Martin Vantage, to name just a few. This new video, however, is focused only on the new Vette.
The video shows the upcoming C8 Corvette Z06 on the ragged edge, with the driver behind the wheel pushing the the limits of the prototype sports car, even stepping off gingerly off the edge of the track on occasion.
Indeed, the Nurburgring is a great place to see what the new Z06 can do. Covering more than 14 miles broken up by vicious elevation changes and 160 corners, the Nurburgring is a favorite among automakers for testing the latest and greatest performance machines. Fast times here are often used as bragging rights against rivals.
Not only does the video give us a look at the new Corvette Z06 in prototype form, but it also lets us hear the howl from its naturally aspirated DOHC 5.5L V8 LT6 powerplant. Expected to chuck out 615 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque, the LT6 features a flat-plane crank and 32 valves, not to mention an exhaust note that’s decidedly exotic in tone. Output will be routed to the rear wheels by way of Tremec’s eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
As GM Authority covered previously, the 2023 Corvette Z06 is expected to break cover on October 26th. General Motors confirmed the debut date with a new teaser video depicting the latest-and-greatest Z06 driving from the Nurburgring in Germany to the Circuit de La Sarthe in Le Mans, France.

Time??
That’s what I thought. Did the cameraman not think to stay in one spot and time the z06s?
Report should be WEEKLY not DAILY. Everyday is too much!
Officer: Registration and proof of insurance … Do you know why I stopped you?
ZO6: Let me guess, officer, I was doing 230 on a 55mph zone…
They closed up a very large gap on that M-B in a very short distance at the 4:50 mark. Even in wet conditions, they were flogging it pretty hard. This might be an impressive competitor.
Awesome video. Chevrolet’s new tag line “Corvette Z06..We Will Kick Your Azz”
I want to buy that car I love it
Sorry corvette buyer’s, sellers: as long as “it” remains a mid-engined car: I’ll stick to C7’s & earlier.
nOt a rEaL cOrVetTe
The corvette was ALWAYS meant to be mid-engine….
A real corvette was a split-window w/the 427 up front: not where the trunk is!
You are not alone for that matter but the reason for the mid-engine layout was due to increase hp/torque with better traction from standstill and better handling. Also, C7 and prior Vettes buyers were aging and did not bring in new buyers. The C8 is changing its image around and for the better new and younger buyers.
For example, they say in Los Angeles, 911 dominate that region where the older generation Vette left off decades ago. It is possible that the C8 is making a comeback to that region again.
The split window never had a 427 in either the front or the trunk. If you’re gonna bag on the new, at least know your Corvette history mr. “Enthusiast”.
I CAN’T WAIT FOR OCT.26, FOR ALL THE DETAILS AND THE BASE PRICE.
AND YES, THERE ARE DEALERS THAT SELL AT MSRP.
LONG LIST ON YOUTUBE
Ahhhh, that lovely sound of that engine. That agility and nimbleness at that high rate of speed of this car though………..
The Z06 will be great, and the flat plane crank will make it sound exotic, but I love the offshore boat rumble of the LT2. I am a convert from the German sports cars, and did not expect to be so impressed with the C8.
