The Chevy Cruze has been rated as one of the ten best used compact cars available for under $15,000 USD by the experts over at Kelley Blue Book.
KBB’s new list of the 10 Best Used Compact Cars Under $15k aims to identify the compact cars that represent the best value for money on the second-hand market. The 2017 model year Chevy Cruze was ranked tenth on the list, with KBB praising the vehicle’s spacious cabin and available diesel engine.
“The Chevrolet Cruze has a roomy interior with comfortable seats that make it great for long trips,” KBB’s editors said. “It’s a fuel-efficient compact car, especially with the diesel engine and its 700-mile range. It also has good available safety features including forward collision warning and blind-spot monitoring.”
According to KBB’s online valuation tool, a fair market price for a used 2017 Chevy Cruze LT sedan with around 60,000 miles on the odometer ranges from $13,126 to $15,579. The typical listing price for a low-mileage 2017 Chevy Cruze is about $15,024.
The 2017MY Chevy Cruze came standard with GM’s turbocharged 1.4L LE2 four-cylinder engine, while the 1.6L LH7 turbodiesel four-cylinder was available as an optional extra. The diesel engine was particularly efficient, receiving an EPA-certified highway fuel economy rating of 52 MPG. Like the standard gas engine, the 1.6L diesel was available with both a six-speed manual transmission as well as a six-speed automatic.
KBB says the 2016 Toyota Corolla represents the best overall value for money for a compact car on the second-hand market due to its good build quality and fuel efficient engines. The 2015 Honda Civic was second on its top ten list, followed by the 2018 Hyundai Elantra in third.
GM abandoned the compact car segment altogether when it pulled the plug on the Chevy Cruze back in 2019. While it no longer offers a compact sedan or hatchback, customers looking for a smaller, budget-friendly GM product can still find one in the way of the Chevy Trax crossover, as well as the slightly larger Chevy Trailblazer.

Ummm the Diesel was available with a 9 speed. Not a 6 speed auto.
Lowercase gm and shortsighted Mary should have never discontinued both the Sonic and the Cruze. Both of these vehicles did a fantastic job slowing gms market share loss. These vehicles literally saved gm after the bailouts. And they have great reputations…. Truly unfortunate to watch gm lose that ground at a now accelerated pace to the Korean and Japanese companies.
2017 Cruze LT 3000miles for $10500 USD.Patience is a virtue(dealer car sale).
My wife, son, and I operate and love our three first generation Chevy Cruze’s. Best combination of economy, reliabilty, size, handling, fun performance and good looks. Stuttgart Germany team cooked up European handling and engine performance. Yup, GM should not have abandoned segment and US jobs.
Stupidity. BIG time, from GM cutting the Sonic and Cruze! Idiots pushing CUVs and SUVs…as if everyone wants one of those. ♐
I highly suggest no one buy a cruze nothing but problems with these cars
Yeah gen 1s are pretty bad with coolant issues but gen 2s are fine
I love my 2017 Cruze Premier RS model and I think the gen 2 Cruzes are a decent car but do not buy a gen 1 those things are lemmons
You know the loss of the Cruze here is made up by the sales of the Cruze, Cavalier, Monza, Onix, etc. in other markets. I too wish Monza was offered here along with a rwd Malibu replacement but the profits don’t lie.
I have a Cruze hatch (2017) premier. I like my car, only complaint is that it’s loud on the inside. I would buy it again.
2017 LT is as quiet as a library whisper.
