C8 Corvette Owner Flips Car A Day Before He Intended To Sell It: Video

A C8 Corvette Stingray owner that flipped the sports car into a ditch told police he was taking the vehicle out on a “last hurrah,” joy ride before he intended to sell the vehicle the next day.

Greenville, North Carolina news affiliate WITN reports the Corvette owner, Spencer Everette, was travelling on Highway 11 in the sports car on Monday when he decided to floor the mid-engine V8 sports car’s throttle. He then lost control of the vehicle, rolling it into a ditch. Rescue crews were then called to Highway 11 and Staton Mill Road just before 2:00 p.m local time, where they happened upon a wrecked C8 Corvette Stingray on its side.

Everette told police he was taking the car out on one last spirited drive before he intended to sell the vehicle to a new owner the next day. Video captured on the scene by WITN shows a Silver Flare Metallic Corvette with heavy damage. The vehicle also appears to feature the available High Wing Rear Spoiler and the Z51 Performance Package. Additionally, the removable Targa top roof panel is not installed on the vehicle in the images, suggesting Everette either crashed with the roof detached or the panel came off when he rolled the vehicle.

As if wrecking his C8 Corvette wasn’t bad enough, Everette has also been charged with reckless driving by the North Carolina Highway Patrol. It’s unclear how Everette lost control of the vehicle in the first place, though it seems likely he did not have the traction control or any other electronic aids switched on at the time of the accident. While we do feel for this (now former) Corvette owner, this accident was completely avoidable. He’s also quite lucky he didn’t wipe any other cars out when he lost control, considering the accident happened in the middle of the afternoon in broad daylight.

have you seen the interior of the C8….based on your comment I would say No. The interior of the C7 is good – yes plastic still where shifter is and by power window controls but everything else is wrapped. The c8 interior is very good – really resembles an 80,000 car.

Too much car, not enough driver.

BTW, who buys a car and wants to sell it in a few months? It sounds like someone that couldn’t afford it in the first place. I keep my Corvettes for at least 5 years, have my fun with them, then trade them in on a new one.

This seems to be the norm with these cars. I’ve tried to buy one, but so many are buying them only flip it and make a few thousand. Sad.

Lol did you really just ask that question? People buy cars to resell all the time. People are doing it with the bronco they do it with higher end vehicles so why wouldn’t they do it with the corvette?

Maybe he is selling it because his order out on a new convertible came in , as he bought this one in between time because he didn’t want to wait . like I am doing

I took delivery of my C 8 in early May. Sold it in mid June for a handsome profit, which I put towards a new 911. However, I sometimes regret my decision, as the C 8 had exceeded my expectations. However, I think I will be happy with my decision in 3 years when the supply of C 8s reach the demand.

Now it’s junk like it was when it left the show room. All the newbies buying cars they can not handle or understand. Some goof will buy it fix it and say look what I got until they wreck it and it starts over. Lol, stop being arm chair drivers and experts from what you read and pay your dues first, then buy the car and comment.

Still some are bringing Ferrari to Corvette discussions.
Ferrari is a US proud American car. Period. And it has come from good to great!
Now I would like to remind to the Ferrari dreamers / owners / fake owners that when Ford beat Ferrari in Le Mans for 4 straight years (66-67-68-69) it was so shocking for Ferrari, that 1965 was the last Ferrari victory in Le Mans. So 55 years (yes, five five) have passed and all they have been able to do is to compete, at best, to our beloved muscled American Vette.

Unfortunately Ferrari beat Corvette at the 2021 24 hours of Le Mans in the GTE Pro class. Second place is still not bad.

Funny you didn’t mention that it was the FIRST time a Corvette entered that class. GM said it will enter again next year. Not a bad showing if you ask me.

With the insurance risk pool and actuarial calculations, events like this cause rates to have an increase affect to insureds in this vehicle type size model class in a given geographic area.

GMA strikes again. First they say it’s unclear how the driver lost control, then it’s “ASSumed” the TC was off and it was otherwise avoidable. Why can’t you just report the facts rather than making them up.
