Buick Enclave Among The Best Three-Row SUVs, According To Consumer Reports

The Buick Enclave has been rated one of the best three-row SUVs by the automotive experts over at Consumer Reports.

The publication recently threw together a ranking of the “Best 3-Row SUVs From Consumer Reports’ Tests”, which lists the best-performing three-row SUVs that it has performed road test reviews on recently. CR says there are currently “very few midsized SUVs with a legitimate third-row seat,” making the Buick Enclave a bit of a standout offering in today’s crossover-crazed market.

The 2021 Buick Enclave received a strong road test score from CR thanks to its spacious second and third-row seating, although it was docked some marks for its average predicted reliability and moderate owner satisfaction rating. CR ranks the 2021 Buick Enclave as the second-best Luxury large sport utility vehicle behind the 2021 BMW X7, which is much more expensive, carrying a base price of $74,900. The Enclave, by comparison, is priced from $41,195.

“The enclave is the rare luxury midsized SUV that has decent third-row room without punishing the second-row occupants,” CR’s experts say of the Buick crossover. “Like most three-row models, the rearmost seat is best for kids. But average-sized adults can tolerate short trips, especially if the second-row seats are moved forward a bit.”

The Buick Enclave has been updated for the coming 2022 model year, receiving new front and rear-end styling, new LED headlamps and taillights, different alloy wheel options and a unique grille and wheels for models equipped with the available Sport Touring package. Inside, the revised crossover gets a restyled center console with new push-button Electronic Transmission Range Select and additional premium soft touchpoints. The updated model will also get new exterior colors and will do away with the turn signal indicators that were previously used.

Under the hood, the 2022MY Enclave will continue to offer the 3.6L V6 LFY gasoline engine, which produces 310 horsepower at 6,600 rpm and 266 pound-feet of torque at 2,800 rpm. The V6 is paired with a GM nine-speed automatic transmission and standard front-wheel drive, with all-wheel drive available as an option.

The 2022 Buick Enclave will be built at the GM Lansing Delta Township plant in Michigan.
