A 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT prototype was just spotted testing on public roads, and notably, it was equipped with an entirely new wheel design currently not offered by any GM vehicle.
The wheels on this 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT prototype have an interesting split-spoke design, with 12 individual spokes fanning out from a hexagonal central section. The spokes form a flowing, geometric pattern, and bear a silver finish that gives it a futuristic sort of vibe. Closer to the center of the wheel, there’s a darker finish that offsets the silver nicely.
While the wheels on this 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT prototype are currently not offered on any GM vehicle, they do bear a striking resemblance to the rollers seen in a teaser video for the all-electric Chevy Silverado. Earlier this month, General Motors published a brief 23-second video previewing the Chevy Silverado EV’s four-wheel steering system. During the video, we get a close-up of the battery-driven Silverado’s wheels and suspension, and although they’re rolling, the design looks to be identical to the wheels see on this prototype vehicle.
As covered previously, the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 introduces a model refresh for the GMC Sierra nameplate. Updates over the previous 2021 model year include a new front fascia and rear fascia design, as well as a few new exterior colors. There will also be new wheel designs on offer to complement the fresh body panels.
Inside the cabin, the refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 will feature a completely overhauled cockpit, with a new dash, a new center stack, a larger central infotainment screen, and a new center console. What’s more, the gauge cluster behind the steering wheel will offer a fully digital option, while the column shifter mechanism will be replaced with a new gear selector.
Prior to the release of the refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra 1500, General Motors is offering the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Limited, framed as a sort of stop-gap model that bridges the gap between the 2021 model year and fully refreshed 2022 model year Sierra.

I get different. But those are awful.
yeah, not really sure those will grow on me.
I think they’re awesome.
I like these personally, but would clash with off road tires. I do like the current trend of darker/sliver mixes on wheels. The darker part hides the break dust from OEM pads
I think that is a nice looking wheel.. Must be going on a limited edition trim?
Can we cancel directional wheels or whatever we call all the new trend of angled spokes?
I’d rather cancel cancel-culture than cancel these rims.
I agree. Still don’t like directional wheels though.
Not offensive. But not in the same league as the Y-spoke wheels and their derivatives.
I personally don’t get this weird trend with directional spokes. In fact these rims look like they could be straight of a 90’s pontiac. No thanks.
I like the look
GMC should focus on adding more interior colors instead of wheels. The jet black only option is just awful. The grey with walnut is not too bad but why only available on white trucks? Horrible interior designers. That’s the reason I’m going with Dodge Ram instead.
Sorry But the Dark Walnut/Slate, Perforated leather-appointed front outboard seat trim (copied from the GMC order screen) is available on all colors. And the new interiors will be very competitive.
Never been a fan of “torqued” or “Directional” wheels. It seems like some kind of GM Design theme that has been going on forever. I hope the Silverado does not get a derivative of this wheel. Stick with decent looking 5 or 6 split spoke or the Y spoke designs!
These wheels are looking too basic and not aggressive enough for an SLT model according to the image of those photos, they would be more fitting for the Sierra Pro (Base) and SLE models at best.
Those are some ugly wheels.
Wow. Those are ugly.
At least they aren’t all black, which should not be allowed on any vehicle. Especially Corvettes!
Will the box dimensions be the same – want to re-use my tonneau cover but heard they may be changing it???
I own a set of these in perfect condition with only 300 miles on them. I’m in Houston Texas area. Asking 1400 for the whole set. 713 459 eight six eight five. Text Trey for info.
I don’t care for the new wheels. I was hoping to get the polished aluminum wheels like my 2019 slt has. The dark inserts will be hard to keep clean. They will always look dirty like the expedition’s wheels
